English lamb is well known for it’s distinctive and delicious flavour, so at Shutelake we are proud to produce a flavoursome and tasty product, which we hope you enjoy eating as much as we enjoy producing. Our lambs are true “spring” lambs. They are born in April so that their mother’s can munch on the newly growing spring pasture, rich in wild meadow grasses, herbs and flowers, thu

s producing copious milk to rear their lambs. Lambs begin to take their first nibbles of grass at just a few days old and increase their intakes as the summer progresses, naturally weaning themselves on nature’s intended food. A lovely farm milestone! 🥚🐓 April’s little chicks have officially grown up — and what better way to celebrate their coming of age than with their very first eggs for breakfast! 🍳

It’s been a summer of sunshine. A hot, dry one, and our sheep are more than ready for some fresh green grass!

But even without the rain, the hedges are bursting with goodies — perfect for feeding the birds (and us)! We’ve been picking blackberries, digging up potatoes, and putting some new “toys” through their paces ahead of Autumn Farm School!

We had a “nice day” 😂 watch until the end and you’ll laugh with us! you were epic. J78 was our place - so many visitors and wonderful enthusiasm for our venture. We feel honoured to have your support. Thanks for those who brought us cold drink, hot drinks, ice cream an cake we loved every minute!

Our final Farm School session of the school year, and what a brilliant one to finish on!

We made fresh beds for the chickens, moved the sheep and cows to fresh pasture, topped up the sheep’s water, and spent time hunting for grasshoppers and frogs—making the most of every moment.

What a wonderful year it’s been. Thank you to everyone who’s been part of our Farm School adventures! We can’t wait to welcome you back in September.

There are so many treasures to discover at Farm School. It’s not just the beautiful flora and fauna that make this place so special—it’s the friendships, the connections, and the confidence that grow here too.

We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve created: a place where children feel free to be themselves, where learning happens naturally through curiosity and exploration, and where they discover they’re capable of so much more than they ever imagined.

Crazy day indeed…. For lots of reasons!
But we managed to combine farm school with shearing, which meant my student had an amazing experience as well as the sheep feeling much cooler. I can now relax knowing that the job is done.

🌅 Sunset walk with my girl to check on the hay crop, and what a beauty it is—so much grass this year. 🌾

The countryside was putting on a show tonight too: spotted a fox, mice, buzzards, pheasants, and even a deer along the way. 🦊🦌🦅

Good crop, great company, amazing wildlife, and a perfect sunset. Can’t complain. ❤️
