English lamb is well known for it’s distinctive and delicious flavour, so at Shutelake we are proud to produce a flavoursome and tasty product, which we hope you enjoy eating as much as we enjoy producing. Our lambs are true “spring” lambs. They are born in April so that their mother’s can munch on the newly growing spring pasture, rich in wild meadow grasses, herbs and flowers, thu

s producing copious milk to rear their lambs. Lambs begin to take their first nibbles of grass at just a few days old and increase their intakes as the summer progresses, naturally weaning themselves on nature’s intended food. 🐑✨ This half term at the farm = FULL ON farmer mode 🚜💨

It’s been a busy one here at Shutelake Farm School! From halter training our lambs (hello patience + perseverance 👏) to bottle feeding hungry lambs, chicken checks 🐓 and keeping an eye on the cows 🐄 — there’s never a dull moment!

And star of the week? ⭐
Gertrude is now walking BEAUTIFULLY on her halter and we couldn’t be prouder 🥹💚

Lots of muddy boots, early mornings and happy animals = the best kind of learning 🌱

A busy day on the farm for my two mini shepherd helpers!

And we’re off! Lambing 2026. 3 out of 30 ewes lambed, 5 babies. And one of them our best girl Lemon! Here’s a little insight into the last 2 days.
