We are open 11AM to 6PM, Tuesday to Sunday, Closed every Monday.

Did you know that the Nepalese street food van in Cwmbran uses ingredients grown in Llantarnam? Chhimi Lama opened Himalayan Bites in the town centre last February.

She runs the food stall with members of her family, including her mum, working alongside her. It was set up after spotting a lack of Nepalese street food in the local area and in Wales.

The family says it’s the first food trailer in Torfaen to serve up authentic Nepalese food. They use traditional methods of cooking at their site in Monmouth Square.

I found out this week that they grow vegetables in their garden and at an allotment in Llantarnam to use in their recipes. This includes onions, potatoes, tomatoes, runner beans and cabbage.

I was told that one of the most popular items on their menu is momos- steamed dumplings native to the Himalayan regions of Tibet and Nepal.

Chhimi’s father was a British Gurkha, and the family moved to Wales when she was five.
