Our two newest residents are settling in brilliantly, and they’re quickly becoming the stars of the farm!

🐾 Animal Walkaround – Come and meet our capybaras, buffalo, wallabies, emus, goats and all the other characters around the farm!

🎃 Halloween Fun – Follow our spooky quiz, brave the optional scary walkthrough, enjoy some fantastic photo opportunities and toast a marshmallow around the firepit!

🍔 Buffalo Bite – Serving our farm-reared buffalo burgers, loaded fries, thick Jersey milkshakes, hot chocolate and plenty more, all cooked fresh to order!

🛒 Farmshop – Stocked with our own buffalo meat, fresh Jersey milk, duck eggs, local cheeses and lots of other goodies!

Finally the name reveal of the capybara.
Its been such a busy week, we have finally decided the names-

The boy is called- Capytan Jack
The girl is called - Capy cino

Nikki has her cousin visiting all the way from America, so her and Ollie have been taking a wee bit of time away from the farm to show them some of the beautiful sights Scotland has to offer!

That means our fantastic team have been holding the fort and keeping everything running smoothly while we’re away.

Running a farm, animal walkaround, farmshop and catering unit is no small task, and we genuinely couldn’t do it without the brilliant people we have working alongside us.

A huge thank you to Team Thorabella for stepping up, working hard and keeping everything ticking over. We really do appreciate every single one of you!

WEDNESDAY AT THORABELLA FARM! 🎃🐃

We’re open today from 11am to 3pm for more Halloween fun!

We’ve noticed a few comments on a local Elgin page questioning our entry prices, so we thought we’d take the opportunity to explain a little more about what we offer and what’s included.

Children’s entry is £8.50. So, what do they get for that?

🎃 Our animal walkaround – Meet all our wonderful animals, including our newest arrivals, the capybaras! These little guys have been a MASSIVE investment for us and are incredibly special to have here in Moray. You’d normally be looking at a 3–5 hour journey to see capybaras elsewhere!

🎃 Halloween quiz – A bit of fun for the kids as they explore the farm.

🎃 Halloween treat to take home – Every child gets a Halloween decoration and a chocolate bar.

🎃 Firepit and marshmallow – Enjoy toasting a marshmallow over the fire.

🎃 Spooky walkthrough – For those brave enough to enter!

Animal feed is an optional extra at £1 per bag.

Adult entry is £7 per person, which includes access to the animal walkaround, spooky walkthrough and Halloween attractions. The children’s treats and prizes are included in the children’s ticket only.

Now, a few things we want to explain.

We don’t have a playpark at Thorabella, and that’s a personal choice we’ve made. The cost of equipment, planning, approvals and insurance means it’s never really been something we’ve wanted to pursue. Our focus has always been on the animals and giving visitors the chance to see and enjoy them.

The Buffalo Bite is also open, but completely optional! We use our own farm-produced meat and Jersey milk to make our burgers, loaded fries and milkshakes. Everything is cooked fresh to order. We’re not simply reheating takeaway food, and there’s absolutely no obligation to buy anything.

Our farmshop is also open, selling fresh buffalo meat from our own farm, frozen produce, freshly pasteurised Jersey milk and lots more. Again, buying anything is entirely optional.

We’re a small, family-run working farm. Looking after our animals, maintaining their enclosures, feeding them and continually improving the visitor experience all come at a considerable cost.

We completely appreciate that everyone has different budgets and expectations when it comes to a family day out. We also understand that what we offer won’t be for everyone, and that’s absolutely fine!

But we do work incredibly hard behind the scenes to give our visitors an enjoyable experience, and we want people to understand what their entry fee actually includes.

We’d much rather people knew exactly what to expect before visiting than leave disappointed.

Anyway, back to the important stuff!
