✨Dog Friendly Glenorchy Farm is a small farm in the depth of the Highland owned and run by Tristan & Fiona MacLennan who are striving to ensure livestock and nature live in harm

ony and flourish. Our aim is to ensure our animals have the best outdoor life and enjoy grazing the fields in the Glen until the day they leave. Our pigs are a traditional breed: Oxford Sandy and Blacks. OSBs were almost extinct 20 years ago but have made a good comeback and are a popular small farm breed. They are natural browsers and foragers and love living outdoors. They are hardy and cope with the foul weather we get in the glen. Not only are the friendly and docile pigs they are known for being excellent mothers. We keep native Swaledale sheep who are wild and keep Tristan on his toes. Our Cattle are Black Galloways kept for their hardiness and ability to cope outside in our wild winters - they are also known to produce lovely meat. Our aim is to bring local produce to the local market. Food that is of the highest quality and variety, produced using high welfare, environmentally friendly and sustainable production systems. We work with a local butcher who is happy to cut the meat to suit our customers meaning we can offer everyone the product they are looking for. We are also always looking to improve the farm and the natural habitat within it. In 2019/20 we planted native woodlands around the farm and every year we are creating habitat corridors by adding hedgerows to connect the habitats together. We are lucky to have so many different species of animals, birds and little insects including the delightful midge. We see Badgers, Pine martens, Otters, Red Squirrels and Deer in the glen and on the farm - this does mean we sometimes loose a few Hens but we try and keep this in check!

Signs summer is coming to an end..
The house martins are getting ready to leave, the devils bit scabious is turning the glen purple, the Rowan berries are red, the plums are ripening and it’s time to go bramble picking 🍁

What a lovely start to the morning. I caught the sleeper to Corrour Station, had a delicious breakfast with friends who were in London last night, a wander with them and then caught the train home in time for lunch. Sometimes you get so caught up in life you forget what’s on your doorstep.. I have always recommended a trip to Corrour to our guests, it’s such an iconic station and remote location - it definitely should be on everyone’s itinerary..

I was very lucky to go to work on the Isle of Luing today, it’s a beautiful small island south of Oban with a tiny ferry.
I would definitely recommend a day out there. The Atlantic Islands Centre has a delicious selection of food and coffee.

Today Jamie and I headed out to the Isle of Lunga in the Treshnish Isles which are just off Mull. We left Oban at 8.30, had a super fast trip over in the baskingsharkscotland rib and spent over 2 hours exploring the Island - I think it must be one of the best day trips we have ever done. The seabirds were amazing, so many nesting birds, so many beautiful puffins, razorbills, fulmars, guillemots and many more.. I would definitely recommend taking a trip there and it’s very doable from Oban.. we were back by 4.30 and managed a wee trip to Tobermory on the way home..

Happy 100th Birthday Sir David Attenborough… our boys describe him as an inspirational genius..he has shown us the world we inhabit in ways we would never experience and doesn’t give up on humanity despite everything he has seen.. what a guy 😍

Beautiful morning driving to work this morning - heading through Inveraray towards Kintyre. Such a lovely little town to visit - great coffee, restaurants, shops and seafood as well as Inveraray Jail..
