The story of how turkey became the centrepiece of the British Christmas feast begins 500 years ago, with Henry VIII.
In 1526, turkey made its way to Britain from the Americas, and Henry VIII was among the first to serve it as the Christmas centrepiece.
It was unlike anything Britain had tasted before, rich in flavour and large enough to feed a royal gathering. From the king’s court, turkey gradually became a tradition celebrated across the country.
As this year marks 500 years of turkey in Britain, follow along as we share the history, people and traditions that shaped the way we celebrate today.
Continue the tradition and reserve your KellyBronze for Christmas.
