Newbold Turkeys Traditional Farm Fresh Turkeys The Jeffries family has over 40 years experience of rearing and producing great-tasting free range fresh turkeys.

Our success in rearing a great-tasting turkey is based on selecting the right type of bird and rearing them naturally allowing them to grow and develop. We then process them in a humane and stress-free way on the farm that helps improve their great natural flavour. We take our first delivery of day-old chicks from the hatchery in July. We then rear them indoors until they are big and strong enough

to go outside. At night, they come inside for shelter in barns with deep straw beds and plenty of air. Our turkeys are bred to mature slowly over nearly six months and are free to eat and drink whenever they please. They are fed on a GM-free diet with no additives or growth promoters. Our processing facilities are on the farm and inspected each year to ensure they comply with food hygiene standards. Once the turkeys have been plucked we then hang them in a chill-room for 10 days - this helps tenderise the meat and develops its full flavour. We don't deliver turkeys over Christmas, because we are so busy and we ask that you come to pick your turkey up at the farm on December 23rd or Christmas Eve. When you collect your turkey it will be ready for the oven, labelled and weighed and we will supply you with some helps and tips for cooking it properly and some recipes for leftovers � in addition to those wonderful turkey sandwiches.

uninvited tit pecked me a few times as i carried it out of our home.. not sure that’s how gratitude works. Mr Tippytoes (our 8kg moggy 🐈‍⬛ ) would have happily helped!

After dawn before breakfast Ruben had a tyre changing lesson with Tom. I thought Tom did an excellent job selling the extra leverage tool aka the special steel pipe tool. “Every day is a school day” just means we learn every day not just in a classroom

We are celebrating Henry who has good Alevel results with a slab of Rocky Road. It’s too hot to bake cake and the road with teenagers is sometimes.. Weirdly he got identical grades to Tom!

Henry is currently in France 🇫🇷 with Anna and living his best life exploring Europe driving his little red car with her as co-driver. I will freeze a slice or two of Rocky Road for their return. He has deferred his place to Harper Adams.

We are also celebrating the end of harvest, more than a month early.

He has officially declared he is having a practical gap year exploring, building and travelling. We’ve started this adventure with a successful planning application, holidays, next we build a steel frame building. Then it’s a chainsaw course, tree and pond management - he’ll probably want to escape Mummy’s agenda and go to Oz for winter.

Cleaning our Spring Beans today following harvest. Yield was lower than hoped due to the dry weather. We remove unwanted w**d seeds and all the undersized/cracked beans - which we can then mix into our feed to the Turkeys in October. The bean sample for out loading is much improved and will store better long term.

Farmers show in rural Madeira today. The chicks are destined for chicken meat and are dyed with food dye traditionally in Madeira. We walked to get here..

When you think the wheat is ready to harvest go on holiday for two weeks! That conventional wisdom didn’t exactly work this year and so I’m grateful we had booked the flights, prioritised family time.. Eat swim walk repeat - introducing Anna to our holiday mode
