August in Devon, and it's dry out there. The grass has gone that crispy sandy colour and the stream's down to a trickle.

It's taken us a while to get the goats' routine sorted for this weather. We made the mistake of putting fans in their shed in the first heatwave, and because they're more cleverer than us, they promptly refused to go outside at all. Then after evening milking they kept outwitting us again, finding ways to escape so they could enjoy the longer, cooler evenings.

Anyway, they've got us trained now.

Off exploring and finding greenery whenever it's cool enough, but otherwise lazing about, tucking into ad lib fodder we're supposed to be saving for winter....

We've got a new stockist to shout about: The Manor Butchery in Ruislip are now stocking Smallacombe goat's milk!

It's our furthest stockist yet, which still feels a bit mad to write (a small goat farm in Devon making it all the way to Ruislip, who knew!) If you're local to them, do pop in and say hello.

Huge thanks to the team there for taking us on, we're chuffed to be sharing shelf space with a proper independent butcher.

I'm delighted to introduce Coastal Goats Organic Goat's Milk, lovingly produced at Smallacombe Farm in the beautiful Devon countryside.

This is gently pasteurised and unhomogenised – preserving the milk's natural character while meeting UK food safety requirements. It's about as close as you can get to the taste and qualities of fresh farm milk without it being sold as raw milk.

Unlike most milk, it's sold frozen to lock in its fresh-from-the-farm quality. Simply transfer it to your fridge, allow it to thaw overnight, and it will pour just like fresh milk.

From our Soil Association certified organic herd in Devon, this is goats milk as it was meant to be — slow batch pasteurised at lower temperatures than conventional methods to preserve the natural flavour, enzymes, and nutrients that matter.
