Happy Devon Day from Proper Devon Teas 🌿☕

We may source our finest tea ingredients from across the world — from mountain gardens, spice trails, orchards, and flower fields — but every blend finds its true home here in Devon.

Blended by hand in this beautiful county, each tea carries a little of Devon’s spirit within it: the wildness of Dartmoor, the salt air of the coast, the warmth of village kitchens, and the quiet magic of our deep green valleys.

Even our names are inspired by the places we love most — the hidden coves, ancient moors, fishing villages, rolling hills, and timeless landscapes that make Devon unlike anywhere else on earth.

Because being proudly Devonian is at the heart of everything we do. 💚

Happy Devon Day to all who love this remarkable county as much as we do.

Listen out for me tomorrow (Wednesday 20th) talking tea on BBC Devon on the Caroline Densley show at about 11:40am.
Apparently they would like to know more about English Breakfast Tea (if only we had a Champion Hot Drink from Taste of the West) and why loose leaf teas are better!
Also, make sure you come and see us at the Devon County Show from Thursday to Saturday, we are in the Shopping Village in Avenue B, come and try some of our teas and plus the weather looks great!

This weekend, we are doubling up with two eat Festivals food and drink markets
Saturday 16th in Dawlish (our home town!)
Sunday 17th in Tavistock

To celebrate we thought we'd highlight some of our locally named teas, all of which will be available to try over the weekend, we look forward to seeing some of you there!

Dawlish Black Swan: Moody & Elegant – A Gently Smoky Black Tea Inspired by The Brook. Rich, smooth with malty Assam, bright Ceylon, & a gentle trace of pine smoke from the “Shaowu” Lapsang – darkly elegant, like the swans on Dawlish Brook.

Tamar Valley Tea: Light, Afternoon Tea Inspired by the Flowers of the Tamar Valley. Darjeeling and Ceylon are blended with jasmine flowers & bright calendula petals for a smooth, fragrant tea with soft floral notes and a clean finish.

Teign Tea: Floral Green Tea, Sweet Devon Estuary Seaweed & Meadow Flowers. Bright Sencha green tea with floral cornflowers, chamomile & rose. Sweet Devon dulse adds a light estuary breeze. Fresh & quietly evokes the river.

Dartmoor Wild Heath: Calming Rooibos Infusion of Heather & Gorse, Echoing Open Moorland. A calming blend of rooibos & nettle. Heather & gorse bring soft floral warmth & subtle sweetness, rosehip adds delicate brightness to create a smooth, rounded cup with a clean finish

Dartmoor River Tea — a blend of sencha green tea and nettle tea with gorse and heather flowers
Dartmoor Wild Heath — rooibos redbush tea and nettle tea with gorse and heather flowers

And returning by popular demand:

Dartmoor Caravan — our award-winning smoky black tea

We will also be sharing a stall with our sister company Simon Tozer - Devon Author, with the amazing Devon and Dartmoor based novels and guide books

All will be available to try and buy at the Bovey Love Local Market this Saturday.

What a fantastic first day at Toby’s Garden Festival at Powderham Castle!

It was such a joy to see so many people tasting and enjoying a selection of my teas – ten in total – including my award-winning Dartmoor Caravan Tea, along with a couple of new favourites: Devon Orchard and Garden Partea.

We’re sharing a stall with our sister company, Simon Tozer – Devon author and public speaker, which made the day even more special.

I’m really looking forward to another lovely day of sharing tea, chatting, and meeting more wonderful people. Do come by and say hello!
