After battling a severe ice cream addiction that spiralled out of control when pregnant! I decided to produce my own rich and creamy ice cream that was just as satisfying as the additive and sugar filled ice cream I had been binge eating. After months of attempting various flavours and testing litres of ice cream on friends and family ‘Fravocado’ was finally born. Starting with a base of coconut m
ilk and avocado’s, Fravocado is full of heart healthy fatty acids. We are all aware that coconut is proven to be good for your skin, hair and nails. It’s also LACTOSE FREE and a great vegan and healthier alternative to milk. It has also been shown to higher HDL levels (good cholesterol) because of the large proportion of lauric acid it contains (also found in breast milk!). The green superfruit that is the Avocado contains over 20 different vitamins and minerals….did you know they have more potassium than a banana?! Its low in carbohydrates and high in fibre which can help you feel full faster and longer, making it a go-to weight loss aid. It is taken from the cactus and most commonly used in Tequila, you will probably see it pop up in most supermarkets with the use of unrefined sugar on the rise. Agave has a low GI of 27 so it won’t spike your blood sugar levels. At the end of the day sugar is sugar and fat is fat. Although the ingredients used are those of a healthier variety to what you would normally see in an ice cream it should still be consumed as a ‘treat’, but one that can certainly be enjoyed with far less of the guilt! If you are conscious of what you put into your body, want to avoid dairy, gluten and refined sugars. Or perhaps you love the creamy taste of coconut and avocado, then Fravocado is the dessert for you! If you are not such a fan of the taste of avocado then why not try the fresh raspberry and basil flavour? And If you are a chocolate lover then there is Fravocado with raw cacao nibs (don’t get me started on the benefits of raw Cacao!).
