A MESSAGE I NEVER THOUGHT I’D BE WRITING
This has honestly been one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make, but unfortunately we’ve made the decision to close the shop from today onwards.
The truth is, at this point in my life, running the restaurant just isn’t working alongside everything else I have going on.
Between my family, running a successful groundwork company and everything that comes with running Red’s, I’ve realised I simply don’t have the balance in my life to give the restaurant the 💯 commitment it deserves.
When I started Red’s, I genuinely thought I’d had enough of my other work and wanted to take my life in a completely different direction.
But opening Red’s has actually shown me that I still have a lot of love for what I already do — and it’s also shown me just how much goes into doing the smokehouse game properly.
🔥 Proper BBQ takes time.
🔥 It takes patience.
🔥 There are no shortcuts if you want to do it right.
The hours people see when the doors are open are only a fraction of it.
Behind the scenes there’s the prepping, smoking through the night, getting everything ready and then actually running the shop.
The hours are very, very real.
But as demanding as it’s been…
I’ve loved it. ❤️
When I started Red’s, I set out with an idea of exactly what I wanted to create — proper BBQ, done properly.
And looking at what we’ve achieved in such a short space of time, I can genuinely say I did what I set out to do.
I took the shop from what it was when we first got the keys and turned it into Red’s Brisket Pit.
We built a name, we built a following, and most importantly, we put out food that I’m genuinely proud to put my name to.
For something that started as an idea and became what it has in such a short amount of time, I’m massively proud of what I’ve achieved. ❤️🔥
So although I know closing the shop is the right decision for me and my family at this point in my life, I’m walking away from it with my head held high.
I set out to do something, I did it, and I’m bloody proud of it. 💯
But we’re not disappearing without one last smoke-up…
💥🔥 RED’S FINAL SHOWDOWN — 19TH SEPTEMBER 🔥💥
We’re going to fire up the smokers one final time, use up our remaining stock and give Red’s the send-off it deserves.
We’ll put another post up with the menu and all the details nearer the time.
And one thing I do know…
THIS DREAM ISN’T DEAD.
One day, when the time is right, we’ll carry it on — and I genuinely believe we’ll come back bigger and better.
In the meantime, Red’s will still make appearances at pop-ups and festivals in the future because I’m definitely not ready to give up the smokers completely!
Finally…
THANK YOU.
To every single person who has supported us, bought our food, recommended us, shared our posts or simply walked through our doors…
It means more than you probably realise.
And if you’ve always said:
“I really need to try Red’s…”
…but never got around to it?
19th September is your chance.
Get yourselves down for our final weekend.
We’re not going quietly…
WE’RE GOING OUT WITH A BANG. 💥🔥🥩
