Good Thai - 34 Victoria St - DE1 1ES. I had a Deliveroo code to use up which meant I got the Pad Kee Mow (spicy chicken noodle) dish for £6 including delivery. It was fairly disappointing really - small portion and lack of taste. Was expecting much better can't really give it a higher score than 5.5/10. DISCLAIMER: I had this on delivery and they are probably more of a dine-in place. I will make the effort to go and dine in at some point to get a better point of view. Do not let this put you off trying a new place!

Seven - Pride Park - Wheelwright Way - DE24 8SQ. Had breakfast here with the family as they had a train to get to shortly after. I had the Shakshuka for £9.50 and an Americano. A quality breakfast option that opens before 9am - the Shakshuka was really tasty as was the fancy Gloucestershire butter packet they give you for your toast. It is also just a really nice place with great service. Can't really fault it for breakfast around £10. 8.1/10.

Vinny's Caribbean - 123 Pear Tree Rd - DE23 6QF. These guys took over Dunns River. I ordered some fried chicken and an oxtail meal that came with plantain rice cabbage and dumplings. Very homemade very tasty. Service from the chef was super friendly as well! Glad to see this spot back open and thriving with a nice team and great food. 8.4/10.

3 Chef Original - 472a Nottingham Rd - Chaddesden - DE21 6PF. My new budget takeaway hack is buying the half a tandoori chicken option at anywhere that does it. This was £8 and you get a very reasonable amount of well cooked chicken with salad and sauce. 3 Chef's tandoori chicken comes in at a solid 7.4/10 - good value and taste but nothing too special as you would expect from a standard takeaway.

Go For Fresh Shawarma - 210 Normanton Rd - DE23 6UX. Ordered the Bass fish meal from Go Shawarma for around £9. It was very tasty and nicely charred however the fish isn't that big - I could've done with 2 of them to be honest but I am a greedy sod so for the average eater it's probably fine. I would recommend this. 8/10.

Nalaas - 81 Monk St - DE22 3QE. Been a while since I'd been here and it is for me Derby's best Indian that offers the most unique flavours. The sit-in Thali for £15 is a great offer where you can try so many dishes. Also had the chilli fish for £6.95 which I really enjoyed. Nalaas gets a high score always but they seem to have upped their game even more. 8.8/10 on this outing.

Pablos - The Loft - 4 Cheapside - DE1 1BR. This one really surprised me. It was late in the night so I didn't have many options and I really wanted a pizza. After checking Domino's this came in around £5 cheaper at £11.54 so I thought sod it expecting the typical greasy cheese rubbish that you get after everything else closes. Paid £11.50 on Foodhub including delivery. It wasn't greasy - nicely cooked thinnish pizza that actually resembled a Domino's. Don't get me wrong it's not the place I would go out of my way for but in an after-hours emergency it's one of the best options I've had in Derby. 7.8/10.

Lucky House - 14 Mercaston Rd - DE21 4HU. This was for the salt and pepper box Singapore chow mein and chicken & sweetcorn soup. Regret the salt and pepper box but the rest of it was okay. Singapore chow mein the best part but most Chinese places do this dish well so can't praise them too highly. Paid £15.50 in total which was fair enough. 6/10 for me. I probably won't bother with them again as I prefer others but it's not a bad takeaway.

Castle Rock - 3 Beverley Rd - DE74 2SA. Spent more than I'm willing to admit here as my plan for budget eating fell through before my trip which meant I had to spend close to £30 on a half pint and a burger and chips. Fairly devastating and glad I can get it off my chest here to warn others to plan better and save the price of your flight by not eating here. Food was average but then again what do you expect at an airport. 5.5/10.

Pangea - 1 Beaufort St - Chaddesden - DE21 6AX. I had the Pork Belly and Chicken Teriyaki in my box with veg slaw and all the toppings. This place looks really nice and I was hoping it would be on par with Hari Haris in town. Have to say I was slightly disappointed with it. Always love to see a new independent place offering something more than fried carbs but I think they need to work on their offering a little bit. It wasn't bad and is worth a go and for Derby/Chad area it's a breath of fresh air. I just think it could be better and it's not quite the level of Hari Haris in town. 7.2/10.
