Derby Brewing Announces Exciting New Chapter for Its Beer Production
Derby Brewing is delighted to announce an exciting new chapter in its story. We have agreed a deal for our beers to be contract-brewed going forward — but importantly, production will continue in the same brewhouse in Chaddesden, Derby, where we first began brewing back in 2004.
The beers will now be produced by Pour Me Brewing Company, a newly formed brewery founded by our former head brewer, Dominic Flynn. A multi-award-winning brewer — including the prestigious Champion Beer of Britain title during his time at Kelham Island — Dom went on to establish Navigation Brewery, where he continued to build his outstanding reputation in the industry.
We’re also thrilled to confirm that all members of the Derby Brewing team will transfer to Pour Me, including our current head brewer, Andy Marshall, himself a multi-award-winning brewer. This ensures that our beers will continue to be crafted by the same talented people, using the same equipment, the same Derby water, and the same trusted recipes. From a brewing perspective, it’s the ideal way to guarantee consistency, quality, and authenticity — the hallmarks of Derby Brewing.
This move comes in response to two key factors: the ongoing challenges faced by the industry following the pandemic, energy crisis, and last year’s budget; and our founder Trevor Harris’s wish to hand over the reins on the production side of the business. By working together through the creation of a new business, the combination of Pour Me and Derby Brewing will be stronger and better positioned for long-term success.
Importantly, our pubs — The Little Darley in Darley Abbey and The Hole in the Wall in Mickleover — are completely unaffected by this change.
Derby Brewing will continue to offer its much-loved core beers — Business as Usual, Hop Till You Drop, Mercia IPA, Dashingly Dark, and Penny’s Porter — alongside a rotating selection of seasonal specials, lagers, and craft keg beers, all brewed in the same location and available both in our pubs and across the free trade.
Pour Me will also launch its own exciting new range of beers from the same premises, starting with five craft cask beers —
Greatest Bambino 3.7% - session pale, Fingy 4.4% - hazy pale, R**t Petite 4.1% - hoppy red ale, The Messiah 5.5% - west Coast IPA, S'mores code 4.5% - vanilla and chocolate marshmallow stout with a range of keg beers to follow.
In regard to Derby Brewing customers there will be no change and all the normal ordering channels will remain in place.
