The Fig Derby came in the final 6 health food shops in the UK!

What an accomplishment.

We are delighted to reveal the deserving winner of this year's Natural Lifestyle Retailer of the Year Award, sponsored by Terranova Nutrition, is the fantastic Health & Remedy in Chard 🥳 Huge congratulations!

Run by Cris and Jason Wootton, what this pair have accomplished in not much more than a year of being open is impressive; wanting to create a better work/life balance, they both left the large health business they were involved with, and decided to return to Chard, where Jason is from. Finding a shop unit, they opened the store in 2025 and have already earnt a reputation as an important community resource.

The sheer number of nominations received for Health & Remedy was impressive, but it was what customers were telling us that really struck the judges. One wrote: “They could win with just their personalities. They’ve bought life back into our town with their energy. The shop is literally filled to the brim with everything you need for a healthy lifestyle. Nothing is too much trouble and no matter how many people are in the shop, they always take time to explain, recommend or guide you in the right direction.”

Something weird again this morning at The Fig Derby…

I’d just opened…. I was putting some new stock on the shelves and someone (a female voice ) from behind said a very clear ‘mmmmmmm’ in my left ear…

I turned thinking it was a customer BUT there was NO-ONE there 😳👻👻👻

These are what I was putting on the shelf… and they, now have ghost approval! 😄😄😄

Perfumes made from pure oils and resins… 🥰

I hope not. I pride myself on shaking things up … it’s quirky, it’s fun… and it’s how we roll at The Fig Derby…

I’ve made it individual to me and I am The Fig…

I’ve poured lots of love and care into a place that, I think, makes it a joy to physically shop (in a world of online)

It’s aesthetically pleasing, smells amazing (so I’m told, I wish I could smell it! Nose blind) and it contains lots of fabulous and fantastic things…

The Fig is on Sadler Gate, next door to The Old Bell….
