🍌 101 KILOS OF BANANAS. ONE HUNDRED AND ONE. 🍌

There are moments in life when your heart stops, your stomach drops, and your entire life flashes before your eyes.

Today was one of those moments.

Whilst checking our delivery paperwork, I spotted something rather alarming.

101kg of bananas.

My immediate thought?

"NOT AGAIN. PLEASE GOD, NOT AGAIN!" 😭

Flashbacks to the Great Onion Incident. The Lettuce Debacle. The sheer horror of having to explain yet ANOTHER spectacular produce-ordering catastrophe.

But then I checked our order.

We'd ordered five bananas.

Not five kilos.

FIVE. INDIVIDUAL. BANANAS. 🍌🍌🍌🍌🍌

And for once, dear customers, IT WASN'T US!

Somewhere along the line, our lovely wholesaler had accidentally invoiced us for 101kg of bananas.

I've never been so relieved to discover that we're not the only ones capable of a fruit-and-veg-related blunder!

The Packhouse is innocent this time.

🎃👻 SPOOKY SEASON IS UPON US! 👻🎃

Have you picked out your pumpkin yet?

We've got a lovely selection of pumpkins outside the farm shop, in all sorts of shapes, sizes and colours, just waiting to find their new homes! 🧡

But don't forget, pumpkins aren't just for carving spooky faces into!

You can roast them, toast their seeds, turn them into soups, pies, curries and all sorts of delicious autumnal goodies.

And if you've never tried cooking with a white pumpkin, you might be in for a treat! They're said to have a particularly lovely flavour, so why not give one a go?

Whether you're after a terrifying jack-o'-lantern, a cosy autumn doorstep display, or something delicious for dinner, we've got a pumpkin for you!

A little message from Shop Manager Allison:

"Can we just take a moment to appreciate Bramley's apple and caramel blondie?! 🤤🍎🍂

I've just had a slice with a mug of oat milk chai latte and OH. MY. GOD.

It tasted like October in California. 🥹❤️

It took me straight back to childhood trips to Oak Glen, picking apples with my family, enjoying all the autumn goodness, and just feeling happy.

I don't know how to explain it, but that combination of apple, caramel, cinnamon-y chai and nostalgia gave me the most wonderfully wholesome, cosy feeling. Like a little edible hug from my childhood. 🥹

Honestly, I think everybody needs this in their life. Get yourself a slice of that blondie and a mug of chai latte. Thank me later.

Bramleys Cafe and Cakery, you've made this California girl's heart very happy today. ❤️🍁"

🥔 POTATO UPDATE! 🥔

While we patiently await the arrival of our 25kg sacks of main crop potatoes, we've got something to tide you over…

We currently have 5kg bags of Marfona and Stemster potatoes available in the shop!

So if your potato supplies are running dangerously low while you wait for the big sacks to arrive, fear not! We've got you covered.

We'll let you know as soon as the 25kg sacks make their long-awaited appearance, we promise.

🍎 DO YOU LOVE RUSSET APPLES? 🍎

We certainly hope so…

When you’re busy, sometimes you write down one number and somehow manage to order a completely different number. It happens. 🤷‍♀️

This time, Nettie thought she was ordering 2kg of Russet apples.

Except she actually ordered 5kg.

And then, just to keep things interesting, 6kg arrived. 😂

So, needless to say, we have a rather lovely selection of Russet apples in the shop at the moment!

If you like your apples crisp, sweet and slightly nutty, Nettie has absolutely got you covered. 🍎😂

Sometimes the ordering department needs adult supervision. 🙈

A LITTLE POTATO UPDATE

Main crop potatoes are running a little later than usual this year, but they’re on their way!

We’re expecting them to be ready around early October, and this year we’ll have 25kg bags of both red and white main crop potatoes available.

So if you’ve been waiting for the proper big bags of Norfolk spuds… not long to go!

We’ll let you know as soon as they’re in the shop.

🥬 IT’S NETTIE’S TURN. 🥬

You may remember that, from time to time, one of us accidentally orders a slightly more ambitious quantity of something than intended.

Apparently, despite working here long enough to know better, we have learned absolutely nothing.

This week, Shop Assistant Nettie meant to order one pack of gem lettuce.

Nettie ordered one box of ten packs of gem lettuce.

So, unless Fresh Approach kindly rescues us tomorrow, we are going to have what can only be described as…

✨ A LOT OF GEM LETTUCE ✨

Nettie has been informed that if they remain, she will be publicly named and shamed.

She has accepted her fate.

In the meantime, if you happen to need gem lettuce — for salads, sandwiches, burgers, wraps, feeding a small army, or perhaps constructing a lettuce-based extension on your house — please do come and help us out. 😂🥬

No judgement here. We all make these mistakes.

Quite regularly, actually.

🥒 BIG DILL ENERGY HAS ARRIVED 🥒

As many of you know, our Shop Assistant Allison hails from across the Atlantic 🇺🇸 and, in a moment of homesickness — combined with her ongoing quest to find a proper dill pickle in the UK — she ordered these in for us to try.

And oh. My. Goodness.

Goat Rodeo Goods Big Dill Energy Cucumber Pickles taste like home.

If you’re American, Canadian, or simply someone who has spent far too long searching British supermarket shelves thinking, “No… I mean a DILL pickle,” then please come and try these.

They’re crunchy, tangy, properly dilly and about as close to the classic American dill pickle as Allison has managed to find this side of the Atlantic.

So, to our fellow homesick expats: you are not alone. 🥹
We can’t promise a jar of pickles will completely cure the homesickness…

…but they might fill the hole for a little while. 💚🥒

🚨🍅 TOMATO ALERT 🍅🚨

The tomatoes are now in the shop!
After months of hard work from the lads in the greenhouse, the first of our homegrown tomatoes have officially made the journey from greenhouse to shelf.

They're fresh. They're local. They're delicious.

The good news is that customers can now buy them.

The bad news is that shop assistant Allison is currently off sick until 5th July and therefore unable to stand next to the tomato display eating her wages.

Probably for the best. 🍅😌
