Vaughan's Kitchen includes:
- Cookery School set in an industrial kitchen in Devizes, Wiltshire, teaching adults, children and students in a wide ranging variety of courses that appeal to all ages and abilities. For students it may be preparation for university, gap year or living alone and for adults it may be for improving skills or learning new skills.
- Corporate events - we are familiar wit

h working with large and small organisations to help with promoting their businesses or helping with staff training. We cater for any event however big or small. From christenings, birthdays and funerals to weddings and anniversaries. Our food is different! We use our "naturally balanced approach" using local, seasonal and Fair Trade food - forget sausage rolls and quiche; we can do better than that!
- In the community & education. We have specialists on board who have worked in schools for many years - they are used to working with children from Reception through to sixth form and will tailor a package for your school, your needs and your budget.

We’ll be taking you on a multi-sensory dining experience with the flavours of South East Indian cuisine where Indian spices meet with French culinary practices to make a unique mild & intensely aromatic masala mix.

Chef Peter Vaughan will talk you though each course and our resident musician, Andrew Hurst, will provide mesmerising music with his sitar and tabla instruments.

When planning wedding at home, flexibility is an added bonus 🎪

This is often fully appreciated closer to the day once you are ready to finetune smaller details & start setting up. No time restrictions for access, nobody to tell you that you can’t have real candles or confetti of your choice, no sound limit for the band and so much more. There is a different feeling of nostalgia & romanticism surrounding home weddings for sure – and WE LOVE IT!

A little throwback to a June wedding in Wiltshire with blue sunny skies and wide-open fields that offered a perfect setting for a wild & whimsical celebration. The couple had a clear vision and created a space that made everyone giddy with excitement & joy. We couldn’t offer a better example that you don’t have to stick to classic white dinnerware. I & J chose vintage crockery, cutlery and glassware which brought the enveloping feeling of family and friends sharing a celebration meal with no traditional formalities. Following relaxed reception of ch*****ne & canapes in the garden, everyone found baskets of homemade breads & dips on the tables. It was a perfect start to the feast to come.

Who would want to be in the kitchen with ovens working flat out during the hottest week of the year? Well, that's where a group of 8 students from Dauntsey's were this week. After finishing a gruelling GCSE exam schedule, instead of relaxing they came for an intensive one-week foundation cooking course👨‍🍳

They were a delightful group who all completely engaged in the experience. They learned to cook a full roast dinner, got to grips with pastry, made pizzas from scratch and many other things. One group even created the Dauntsey's badge out of bread dough when making grissini! Their choux pastry profiteroles were the best ones ever😋

To round off the experience, and show off what they had learned, today they competed against one another to provide a delicious two course meal - without any help. All the results were delivered with competence and confidence. They all looked and tasted excellent so it was hard to pick a winner🌟

So how did they fare in the heat of the kitchen? The secret is that we have air-con, so it was actually the best to place to be during a heatwave🌞

This day 4 years ago… when we all stepped into a changed world and the wedding day for A&J was here at long last! Number of postponements, menu changes and anxious waiting later… The sun shone just like today, the water on the Fonthill lake sparkled and the atmosphere & compliments on the food were electric! Whenever we return to Ashley Wood Farm, it always makes us feel as if we are entering a different world, full of calm, serenity and anticipation of what’s to come. A&J took advantage of every corner this Wiltshire barn wedding venue has to offer – romantic ceremony under the branches heavy with blossom; reception with garden games & G&T bar on the lawn overlooking the lake; wedding feast of char grilled steak & sticky toffee pudding in the barn; treats, photobooth and bar in the Milking Barn and evening party pizza around fire pits in the courtyard. They did it their way and we loved it all!

One thing you will find on all of our menus is bread. It’s not a separate course but always an accompaniment that is served either with a starter or a main course, if canapes are replacing the starter. Over the years we have developed so many different recipes and never stop experimenting with different grains & flours. Easy to adapt and make gluten free loaves too which goes down a treat with guests with dietary requirements. This homemade crispbread was chosen as a perfect match for a selection of Middle Eastern sharing platters – lovely and light with a great flavour & crunch. Do you have a favourite type of bread?
