Thank you to everyone who came to pick yesterday. Brilliant bunch of people who were not fazed by the increasingly wet conditions! 5.5 tons by lunch time is very impressive! Legends! Sorry to have to cancel today, but by tomorrow things would have dried out a bit so if anyone would like to come along and do some picking, email [email protected]. Cheers!

Moving onto June and July where we saw some stunning mornings in the vineyard. We had excellent flowering which allowed for brilliant fruit set. Ed then got the hedge trimmer out to trim off the excess growth and make the vineyard look really tidy too.

Now moving onto April and May, spring has sprung. So time to get the frost machine out for those chilly nights (thankfully only a few this year and no harm done) and fertiliser spreading to feed these vines now they’re waking up. Some gorgeous blossom coming out making the vineyard look a bit brighter!

So to start back in March, here are some pictures of the vineyard during winter pruning. Despite the snow and chilly temperatures, Ed managed to find some sunny days to prune the 7,500 vines. He then had some fantastic volunteers to help with the pulling out of the discarded canes. ❄️✂️🧣

A bit late, but a Happy New Year to everyone. We’re currently in New Zealand enjoying catching up with friends and doing some ‘research’ (and judging by this photo we took in Hawkes Bay I think we’re in the right place...!) Looking forward to updating you all on our pruning progress when we get back.

And harvest 2017 is over! We had a great final day on Friday. Lots of Seyval Blanc picked (have you seen the size of those bunches!) and lots of lasagne eaten so we'd class that as a successful day! Thanks so much to all our volunteers who we couldn't have done it without.

Great two days of picking. Over 3 tonnes of grapes, 36 buckets filled and washed, 36 pairs of pink gloves used, 41 mouths fed, (and only 1 or 2 showers!) Thanks for all your help and we are looking forward to next Friday for our last day of harvest 2017.
