Thelveton Farms - Livestock Manager (Cattle)
Due to retirement after 40 years of our ‘Farmers Weekly Beef Farmer of the Year’ winning stockman, an exciting opportunity has opened for an ambitious, forward-thinking stockperson. Located in the Waveney Valley, our successful candidate will oversee all aspects of a large suckler herd and fattening unit on our 6000 acre family run estate in South Norfolk.
Key responsibilities
• Indoor calving, animal care & welfare
• Breeding
• Health and veterinary management
• Feeding and nutrition
• Facility management
• Record keeping
• Staff management
• Sales and purchases
• Compliance
We are looking for
• Extensive hands-on knowledge of beef suckler systems
• Confident, calm handling of livestock
• Competent Telehandler / Feed wagon / Tractor operator
• Understanding of diseases, nutrition & treatments
• Strong record keeping capabilities
• Ability to lead, motivate & communicate with farm workers, contractors & suppliers
