Stocksbridge Limousins

Stocksbridge Limousins The Stocksbridge herd of pedigree Limousins, owned by John and Lynne Cardwell and based in Haywood, near Doncaster.

There has been a suckler herd at Church Farm since the 1980s. The commercial herd was comprised of 70 Belgian Blue cross cows running with a Limousin bull. In 2004 John and Lynne decided to split the numbers and established a herd of 35 pedigree Limousin females alongside a similar number of Belgian Blue cross females. The majority of Stocksbridge females carry the Greenwell prefix or are descende

nts of the Greenwell herd. The early sires were purchased from the Fewacres and Coachhouse herds and included Bailea Ulsterman. Both current stock bulls (Millington Hawk and Elderberry Hobgoblin) were purchased in early 2014 and their calves on the ground are showing great promise. AI is used during the winter months when the cattle are housed. Current bulls being used are Fieldson Alfy and Vagabond. The holding is in a TB4 area, with the last test in December 2014. We are Farm Assured and members of the Biobest Hihealth Herdcare scheme. Our current health status is accredited free for BVD and Risk Level 1 for Johne’s Disease. To protect this high health status we do not participate in showing cattle.
