🌟Dorset County Show🌟

Well where to begin. We had a fantastic weekend at Dorset County Show. Our main showing day was Saturday and the girls and Dougal did us proud against strong competition and big classes across all ages.

Ginger Spice and Princess Lily got 2nd and 4th in the cow with calves at foot class. Te Aroha went into her first calf class and came out with 1st, we have high hopes for her in the future. Dougal came away with 2nd.

Dotty and Whisper went into the yearling heifer class and came away with 2nd and 4th. Super proud of how they have come along this season.

Moira and Black Annag went into the 2yrs heifers and over class, B.Annag getting 3rd and Moira coming away with 1st.

We took two lots of pairs in and came away with 1st and 3rd.

Moira then went into the Championship and was chosen as reserve rare and minority Champion. Couldn’t be more proud of all the cows this season but especially Moira, shes pulled it out the bag every time. Can’t wait to see her out with a calf next year.

Sunday we took 2 lots of pairs out again and came away with 2nd in the native cow and heifer class and 6th in the progeny pair.

We also had a surprise in the grand parade on Sunday by being awarded the most points cup won from Saturday. Something we didn’t even know about. Bringing 8 cows out was hard work but it was worth it when we received that surprise.

Thanks to Alan Lyons for judging on Saturday.

On to the last show of the season and a new one for us, Romsey Show. Excited to see what it’s all about.

We had a great day at The Melplash Agricultural Society and it was nice to see a strong entry of different rare breed cattle. Ginger Spice came 1st in a big class of cows with calves. Dougals second ever class of his own and he came 1st again, very proud of him. Black Annag came 1st and Moira 2nd in the 2-3yrs heifer class. Whisper was 2nd and Dotty was 3rd in the yearling heifer. 3rd for Moira and Ginger Spice in the pairs, so a great day all round.

Coming to the end of a busy show season, the girls are still being absolute stars, behaving brilliantly and continuing to do us proud.

We are looking forward to the penultimate show this weekend, Dorset County Show. Fingers crossed for a clear TB test results Friday. It will be nice to see what Alan Lyons thinks of his champion from last year at Melplash a year on now with a calf too.

A few snaps of some of our youngest Highlands enjoying life out in the fields.

They’re already getting braver, fluffier and more curious by the day — Safe to say they’re already pretty good at posing for the camera.
