Nobody's getting extra hours in the day. Least of all with small people under your feet.

But it's not just the hours that go missing. It's the headspace too, the bit that gets swallowed up standing in the kitchen at 5pm wondering what on earth to feed everyone.

That's the bit we take off your plate. Teatimes sorted, so the energy you'd have spent planning and prepping goes into the moments that actually matter: the dad dancing in the kitchen, five minutes when you can grab a cuppa while it's still hot, being able to enjoy bath time or story time.

That's the "more life" bit.

A year after a damning BBC Panorama investigation shamed the UK government into telling the baby food industry to sort out the sugar in their pouches, walk into any supermarket today and you'll find that very little has changed.

New analysis from Alba Health found that almost a quarter of popular branded baby foods sold in UK supermarkets still contain excessive amounts of sugar. Right now, government guidelines are only voluntary. Nora Cavani, Alba Health’s chief executive is calling for them to become mandatory, enforced standards rather than guidance brands can choose to follow. That's what we'd like to see too.

None of this is about making parents and carers feel bad for what's in their supermarket trolley. It's about understanding what's actually in these baby food pouches, and knowing there are other options out there.

Giving parents real, convenient and nutritious choices is exactly why we built Joey's Family Food. We cook everything from scratch from real ingredients, then blast freeze it and ship it quickly and safely to wherever you are in the UK. So it's about as close as you can get to cooking it yourself, without doing it every single day.

We're just back from some fabulous family time away at Snelling Farm.

If you're looking for somewhere incredibly peaceful and off the beaten track, we highly recommend this campsite near Moreton, not far from our home town of Dorchester.

It's back to basics, but that suited us just fine (and we took our Joey's meals of course!) and gave us a much-needed break before it's back to school and the usual routine.

Have you holidayed near home or far away this summer?

Somewhere around week two of the holidays, meal times stop being meal times. Ice lollies at 11, tea at four, and dare we say, more snacks than you can shake a stick at. Then, seemingly from nowhere, school and nursery start again.

Swipe through for some small things that can help you with the transition. We can’t get anyone’s shoes on the right feet. But a freezer full of proper meals so you don’t have to worry about teatimes? That bit we can help with.

Start today
Start shifting meal and snack times back towards the routine a few days before term starts, not the night before.

Pack their lunchbox the night before, not in the morning. Anything decided at 7am under time pressure tends to be crackers and a banana. Sorted the night before, you can choose with care.

Let them pick one thing. A small choice, like which container or which fruit, can head off a surprising amount of the “I don’t want that” pushback in week one.

Water as the default again. Holidays mean more juice and squash by accident (days out, grandparents, ice cream vans). Getting back to water alongside meals is one of the easier resets.

Try new foods at home first, not at nursery. A food they’ve never seen before, is a lot to ask of a two-year-old at once. Trial it at the weekend so nursery lunch isn’t the first meeting.

Nursery-sized portions, not adult ones scaled down. Overfilling a lunchbox just means it comes home untouched and you’re left wondering if they ate anything at all. Be realistic, and you’ll end up saving food, time, and money.

The freezer stash. This is where your freezer earns its keep. A shelf of Joey’s meals tucked away means the rushed mornings don’t have to be chopping-board mornings too. Simply take something out the night before, and you’re ready to send off your little one off with a veggie-packed muffin or pancakes, or know you’ve got something quick and easy ready for teatime.

One Dorchester childminder changed how they do lunchtimes. Here’s why...

At Bumblebees Childcare and Education the children used to bring in a packed lunch every day. And on the whole, they were fine. But parents weren’t always able to put together something that met the government guidance around healthy eating.

That’s where Joey’s Family Food came in. Bumblebees now serve our meals to the children in their care, and Leanne says it’s taken the stress away from parents completely. No more scrambling to cook something healthy after a long day at work. Just proper food, ready to go.

There’s another win too. The children are trying different tastes and textures every day, which matters more than people realise in those early years.

Thank you so much to Leanne for sharing why she chooses Joey’s. If you’re a childminder or nursery wondering whether our meals could work for you, get in touch. We’d love to help.

Nobody wants a cardboard box with a soggy bottom turning up at their door!

That’s why we pack every Joey’s order carefully - we don’t just chuck it together and hope for the best! The Woolcool fleece liner goes in first, keeping everything at the right temperature the whole way to you. Then we tuck in ice packs (one on the side, one on top) and pack your order in snugly, so there’s no room for air gaps and nothing shifts on the journey.

You’ll spot a QR code on your box too. It links to our Google reviews page. We’d love to hear if you’re enjoying Joey’s - it genuinely makes our day, and helps new customers find us, too.

Every order also comes with a little extra: sprouting seeds. Ready in a couple of days, packed with nutrition, and a small sprinkle on a sandwich or dinner does the job.

Then it’s off to the post office and on its way to your kitchen, wherever you live in the UK!

Got a question about how your order gets packed? Drop it below.

No more counting to 14! Here's Owen to explain...

With our old packaging, we needed you to order 14 meals as a bundle, to make sure every box was packed full to keep everything frozen on its journey to you. But our new meals and sauces packaging completely changes things - for the better!

We can now fit more into each postal box, so we've swapped that 14 meal bundle rule for a simple minimum order value of ÂŁ40 instead. Choose whatever suits you and your family. And, if you have the freezer space, order over ÂŁ80 and you'll get free delivery.

This change has also meant we've been able to add some exciting new products to the website, including sauces, kefir, food pots, aprons and utensils.

AND, you can filter our meals by allergen/intolerance and dietary preference, making it much easier to find what suits you exactly. Please have a browse and let us know what you think: https://www.joeysfamilyfood.com/collections/all-products.
