Piddle Brewery

Piddle Brewery Are you taking the Piddle? With a name like Piddle, you’d think we don’t take anything seriously.

But, we do – just one thing – and that’s the beer that we make and love. Our passion is blending hops, barley and malts in to create ales that bring serious pleasure, from delicate thirst-quenchers to thick, velvety stouts. A mix made in heaven – or in as in our case Piddlehinton in deepest Dorset.

We’ve noticed that a lot more people are drinking differently.

Some want a clearer head in the morning. Some are doing it for their health. And somewhere further north, someone is probably muttering that the country’s gone soft.

Nevertheless, not every drink needs to be alcoholic.

Which is why, back in April, we brewed Dorset Low — our 0.5% Pale Ale.

It’s a proper pale ale with plenty of flavour, just like our other beers. It simply contains considerably less of the bit that makes everything funnier for a few hours and tomorrow morning slightly more difficult.

Whatever your reason for drinking a little less, there’s still room for Piddle.

Fancy a case? Order Dorset Low online and we’ll deliver it to your door.

Trade? Give the brewery a call and we’ll sort you out.

Bill thought he’d lost his touch.

Turns out, he’d just forgotten how to enjoy himself.

A pint at the pub. A few stories with an old friend. A laugh that goes on longer than it should. Those are the sort of moments that don’t feel particularly important at the time, but somehow they become the ones you remember, maybe even some of your best.

Life’s probably better when we stop taking it quite so seriously.

So go fishing. Go to the pub. Have the extra pint. Sit with your mates a little longer. Tell the same old stories over and over again.

The best bits are often the simple ones.

And as for Bill?

Well… he’s still got it.

River Piddle’s advice leads Bill straight to The Elm Tree Inn, and more importantly, back to an old friend.

Over a pint of Portland Bill IPA, a few laughs with Eddy and an evening spent at the pub, Bill remembers the happy chap he is.

All this time, he’d been worrying too much about life, taking it more seriously than it really is.

Competition day is tomorrow, has Bill found his old form as well as his good humour?

Bill thought he’d lost his touch. Old River Piddle knew better.

In Scene 4 of The Piddle Chronicles, Bill pays a visit to the wisest man around in search of answers. But it turns out his fishing technique isn’t the problem at all…

He’s lost his good humour.

River Piddle’s prescription? Head down to The Elm Tree Inn, find a fine pint of Portland Bill, sit with friends, tell a few tales and remember why he fell in love with fishing in the first place.

Where Bill’s heading next, things might just start looking up…

To be continued.

Bill’s smile has gone overboard, his smile is nowhere to be found (can it even be recovered?). Eddy thinks for a moment determined to help his closest friend.

When you’re all at sea, it helps to know an old fella with all the answers. Then, Eddy’s bright idea surfaces: Old River Piddle!

He’s older than the harbour and wiser than the gulls, but Bill remains unconvinced that Eddy’s idea will work...

In the next episode, meet us inland at the doorstep of this mysterious old soul.

Stay tuned...

Meet the beer behind the story: a proper 4.4% English IPA that’s golden, aromatic and fruit-forward.

Brewed with 100% English hops, Portland Bill brings together Bramling Cross and UK-grown Chinook for a wonderfully fruity aroma, balanced by English Maris Otter and crystal malts for a smooth, rounded finish.

Like Bill himself, it’s full of character. This isn’t like any another pint on the bar; it’s a cask-exclusive beer with a story to tell, created to start conversations, turn heads at the handpull and give drinkers something worth remembering.

Best enjoyed in a proper pub, preferably alongside good food, good company and a tale or two from the sea.

Keep an eye out for Portland Bill arriving on a bar near you or contact Piddle Brewery to bring the story to your venue 🍻

Bill has been the Dorset Deep Sea Fishing Champion for five years running, but this time, he believes his winning streak will end. He’s lost his confidence, his catch and, according to Eddy, something much more important: his smile.

But as Bill’s ready to hand over the trophy, Eddy has a bright idea💡

Find out what it is in the next chapter: A Wise Suggestion.

Not every day goes swimmingly… Bill’s been staring at the same float for hours without so much as a nibble. Eddy, although usually the supportive friend, decides this is the perfect moment to point out driftwood’s having a better day 🙄. Thanks, Eddy lad!

Bill is not amused, but to be fair he is keeping a remarkably stiff upper beak.

Climb aboard Take The Piddle and swipe through the opening scene of Portland Bill, the first tale from The Piddle Chronicles.

Stay tuned for the next scene, Eddy’s Remarkable Idea 💡 Coming soon…
