Frequently Asked Question ❓🐴
"When should my mare arrive for Foaling Livery before her due date?"
This is one of the most common questions we get from horse owners planning ahead for the foaling season!
Our Answer:
We recommend bringing your mare to us 3 to 4 weeks before her expected due date.
Here is why that timeframe is so important for her and her foal:
Building Vital Antibodies: Settling into her environment a few weeks early allows her body to adapt to the local surroundings and produce essential antibodies. These pass directly into her colostrum (first milk), giving her foal the ultimate immune boost from day one!
Stress-Free Environment: Pregnant mares thrive on routine. Arriving early gives her plenty of time to relax, get used to our team, and feel completely at home before labour begins.
24/7 Care & Preparation: It allows us to monitor her physical changes closely and coordinate seamlessly with ERS Vets so everything is perfectly prepared for delivery day.
At West End Farm Stud, we treat every mare like our very own, giving her the round-the-clock individual attention she deserves.
