Meet the Bee Keeper 🐝🍯

Saturday 29 August 12–3pm

Neil from Bees of Beyla in Kilham is joining us in the shop from 12–3pm.

If you've ever wondered what goes on inside a beehive, how honey gets from hive to jar, or what makes one honey taste completely different from another, call in and see us.

Neil takes enormous care over his bees and their honey and is very particular about how it’s handled and stored, making sure each jar is in the best possible condition.

There'll be honey to taste, stories from the hives and plenty of bee chat.

It’s the last of our August socials this weekend, so here’s a little food preview for the Bank Holiday!

Always cheese, more incoming Friday.

Re food, I’m thinking beetroot, preserved lemon and pesto, something creamy, something warming… and hopefully a return of that mushroom pearl barley dish that went down so well earlier this month.

The final menu, as ever, will come together somewhere between good ingredients, what’s available and my usual last-minute inspiration.

Trefaldwyn Ruby Red is a lush, organic, creamy soft cheese that everyone talks about. We hope to get more soon but for now, this is it.

If you’ve never experienced the Saturday evening road run by the Driffield Steam Rally crew, you really are missing one of Driffield’s best nights of the year.

The steam rally procession makes its way right through the town, with these magnificent giants rumbling along the streets before stopping to stay awhile, so everyone can get up close and simply stand in awe of them.

And we’re definitely open for drinks, snacks and cheese. We might have a few specials too… let’s see how the day goes.

Enjoy the atmosphere with Pumphouse Brewery beer or some gorgeous wine. Kinship Coffee has some great wine, and Atom Beers on tap too.

We reckon we’ve got some of the best seats in the house, so join us up the other end of the High Street, Saturday 8th August from 5pm. It’s going to be a good one!

Tomorrow at we're celebrating Yorkshire cheesemaking at its very best.

We're super proud to be showcasing cheeses from three outstanding Yorkshire producers, each with their own unique story and all made right here in God's Own County.

🧀 Curlew Dairy (Caperby, Yorkshire Dales) their own Yoredale (Old Roan) Wensleydale and Yoredale Blue.

🧀 Botton Creamery (Whitby, North Yorkshire), makers of Dale End Cheddar and Summer Field both exceptional cheeses from their own organic herd, produced with care in the heart of the North York Moors.

🧀 Yorkshire Pecorino(Otley, West Yorkshire) fresh from remarkable success at the International Cheese & Dairy Awards, where Leeds Blue was awarded Gold in five categories and took home the prestigious Michelstown Cup for Supreme Cheese. Their Town Crier, a fruity washed-rind cow's milk cheese, also won Gold in four categories, including Soft Modern British and Artisan Semi Soft.

Every one of these award-winning cheeses will be available to taste and buy from our stand tomorrow.
