WE’RE HIRING AT RAFTERS

We currently have two vacancies to join our team:

• 30+ hours per week
• 16 hours per week

These are varied, hands-on roles covering general shop floor duties, serving customers and helping to make up our online orders.

Rafters is a busy shop, so we’re looking for people who are reliable, hardworking, flexible and happy to get stuck in as part of a team. The work can be physical and does involve some lifting.

Both positions include weekend work on a rota basis, so applicants need to have some flexibility around working days and hours.

We have a friendly team and are looking for people who will fit in well, take pride in doing a good job and be prepared to help wherever needed.

What we offer:
• National Living Wage
• Staff discount
• Friendly working environment
• Varied, busy role

If you’re interested, please email Tracy at [email protected] with a little information about yourself, your previous experience and your availability.

Please apply by email rather than through Facebook comments or Messenger, as we don’t always see every comment and may not be able to reply.

Feel free to share with anyone you think might be a good fit for the Rafters team.

A true legend of the fruit trade retires.

There have been a few great characters in our trade hang up their boots this year, and today it was the turn of Dennis Butler.

Dennis started in the fruit trade in 1963, aged just 15, in Humber Street, Hull. He went on to build one of the most successful and respected businesses in the trade, becoming particularly well known for mushrooms.

To many of us, Dennis simply became known as “The Mushroom King.” 🍄👑

But there’s far more to Dennis than the business he built. He is an absolute gentleman and one of the most respected people I have ever known in this trade. Over the years he has helped, encouraged and supported countless people, ourselves included, and I genuinely believe many businesses have been more successful because Dennis was there to help them along the way.

63 years in the fruit trade. That takes some doing.

Dennis, enjoy your retirement. You have certainly earned it.

A gentleman, a friend and a true legend of the trade.

🎶 LET’S GET BEHIND ONE OF OUR OWN! 🎶

Many of you will recognise Ava Linskill as one of our girls here at Rafters, but you might not know that away from work she’s also a very talented young musician.

This Friday 28th August, Ava will be playing live at Cafe
Norah in Driffield.

It takes a fair bit of courage to get up in front of people and perform, particularly when you’re a young local artist trying to make your mark, so we’d love to see the people of Driffield get behind her.

If you’re free on Friday, pop down, enjoy a drink, listen to Ava play and show some support for one of our own.

Good luck Ava, from all of us at Rafters. ❤️

🥭GIANT SOURSOP! 🥭

Now this is something you don’t see every day! 👀

We’ve managed to get our hands on this incredible fresh Soursop, weighing in at just under 3KG! 🤩

JUST £40.00 FOR THE WHOLE FRUIT!

Soursop is a wonderfully unusual tropical fruit with soft, creamy flesh and a delicious sweet and tangy flavour often described as a mix of pineapple, strawberry and citrus with a creamy texture.

There’s only one available, so if you fancy trying something seriously different, be quick the last time we had these they didn't even make the shop floor! 🏃‍♂️💨

Please message us if you would like to reserve this :)
