Gwenyn Gruffydd was founded in 2010 when Gruffydd decided to follow his dream of keeping bees. Gruffydd was kindly given a hive of bees by a friend farming locally and it is from there the dream developed into a reality. Gruffydd enrolled onto a beekeeping course in Carmarthenshire that year and the 1 hive in the back of his mum and dad's garden quickly multiplied into around 100 hives, dotted around several locations in Carmarthenshire 10 years on. Amdanom ni

Cafodd 'Gwenyn Gruffydd' ei sefydlu yn 2010 pan benderfynodd Gruffydd Rees ddilyn ei freuddwyd o gadw gwenyn. Derbyniodd Gruffydd gwch gwenyn gan ffrind oedd yn ffermio'n lleol ac aeth ati i ddysgu sut i gadw gwenyn a mynychodd gwrs cadw gwenyn yn Sir Gâr. Ers dechrau gydag un cwch yng ngardd ei fam a'i dad cynyddodd nifer ei gychod gwenyn yn gyflym. Heddiw, sef 10 blynedd yn ddiweddarach, mae gennym tua 100 o gychod gwenyn mewn amryw leoliadau ar draws Sir Gâr.

Prif nod Gwenyn Gruffydd yw i werthu mêl pur o'r safon uchaf sydd ar y farchnad.

The 2026 honey crop is a bit different this year. The crop is bigger thanks to the extra bees that come with our continued expansion, but the early summer and spring was fantastic for honey production.

We used to store the whole crop in plastic food grade buckets. It worked, but the endless washing (and re washing) of buckets became a job in itself.

After spending time with larger bee farms and seeing the efficiencies they’d built in over the years, storing honey in food grade barrels made a lot of sense for us. Easier to store, properly sturdy, and no more hauling buckets by hand the forklift and pallet truck do the heavy lifting now.

It also means processing in 300kg batches (one barrel) instead of anywhere from 50–200kg like before. Less labour per kilo, less time on clean up.

We buy these barrels direct from a UK manufacturer, and we’ll be stocking them year round if anyone needs some.

How do we handle full supers of honey?

Step 1 Honey supers back to the farm.
Step 2 Place plastic sheet on pallet.
Step 3 Load 26 supers on the pallet and wrap it tight.
Step 4 Store supers in container 2 pallets high to keep clean and ready for extraction at a later date.

This process allows us to pull the entire crop before we start extracting. There are hundreds of supers to crop and this system makes our work efficient.

Before we extract we like to make sure all the bees have been treated and that they have enough food in the brood box….only then do we extract.

It’s tough work but someone’s got to do it! 🐝💪🏻💪🏻.

HIVEALIVE MAX PROTEIN 🐝
REDUCED TO CLEAR

Best before: August 2026

We’ve checked directly with HiveAlive who have confirmed this is a best before, not a use-by date. The patties do not become unsafe for bees after this date, although protein efficacy will gradually decline.

🍂 Ideal for autumn feeding
🐝 Help support winter bee production
🌼 Useful where pollen is in short supply
❄️ Can also be frozen for use next Spring 👌🏻

Limited stock available – once it’s gone, it’s gone.
