Dear valued customers and friends,

This is a heartfelt post for help and suggestions. This year has been particularly difficult for many small independent businesses, and ours is no exception. This has been on top of more than a year of cost increases to the business and a dramatic decline in footfall and customer spend, which is entirely understandable given the economy.

Our question is what can we do, or offer, or change, to encourage customers more? Is it us, our product range, the layout, the location, promotions? Do we offer the wrong mix of products? What would you like to see more or less of on our shelves?

As the name suggests, the food festival is a part of Dumfries Agricultural Show and so the food festival will as always be held on the first Saturday in August, which this year is Saturday 5th August.

We are so thankful to our merry bunch of volunteers, without whom the show just would not be possible! From convening events, managing the social media accounts and securing sponsorship, to managing and tracking all trophies, manning gates on the day and setting up showjumping courses,we are proud of the people behind the scenes.

We’d also like to say thank you to you, the people who share, like, celebrate and come along on the day to create the buzz that is Dumfries Show and Dumfries Show Food Festival. We are grateful for your appreciation and kindness towards our team of volunteers.

I can’t believe we are having to say this though - PLEASE keep your words kind. Our team are mums, full time workers, farmers, young people, Carers, every day folks like you and me who are doing all of this above their usual busy lives so trolling them through our posts is not acceptable.
