Last night was the final competition of the season, the Young v Old. There are 8 pairings in each team, who play 2 doubles and 1 mixed.

The young team started strong winning 6 out of the 8 mixed. A tough fought 3 set battle between Robin and Sarah and Conor and Laura gave the old team their first win. Whilst Craig and Shonna beat Andrew T and Kathryn to get their second.

In the second half of the mixed Craig and Shonna continued their winning run, and Ken and Helen picked up another win for the team. The young team continued their winning run with another 6 wins. Liam and Lyndsay, George and Niamh, Andrew L and Katie, Joe and Alyssa all won both of their games.

Going into the doubles the young team only needed one more win to take the win overall. The young team ladies of Lyndsay and Laura, Kathryn and Eilidh, Niamh and Natasha and Katie and Alyssa all won their doubles. It was the opposite on the gents side with the old team winning all of their doubles.

Congratulations to the Young team retaining their title this year:
Liam and Lyndsay
Conor and Laura
Andrew T and Kathryn
Jordan D and Natasha
George and Niamh
Jordan M and Natasha
Andrew L and Katie
Joe and Alyssa

Monday night will be the final night for the juniors this session. We’ve had a great turnout this year, particularly in the primary age group and hopefully that will continue to grow next session. Big thank you to Craig for leading each week and to helpers Natasha, Robin, Liam and Laura. Without the team the sessions wouldn’t be possible to run. Sessions will start back in October, dates will be released closer to the time. 🏸

Reminder of times:
P4-7 5-6pm
S1-4 6-7pm
S5-6 7-8:30pm

Last night was the final night of the boat league for 2025/2026 season. Going into it the winner was already decided but that didn’t stop the teams giving it their full effort.

On one side of the draw team Waverley took on team Arran. Waverley started strong winning 3 out of their 4 games. A close fought game between George and Arlene and Jordan M and Natasha, but Waverley took the win 21/19 21/18. Arran pulled an extra game back in the next round of mixed, making it 5-4 going into the doubles. Waverley won 3 out of the 4 doubles, the last game with one set left to play. However this wouldn’t affect the final score so Waverley took the win 8-3 (with final game incomplete).

On the other side of the draw Caledonia faced Bute. They started the first round of mixed well losing only one game to top couple Liam and Kathryn, who played incredibly. Caledonia continued to lead in the second round of mixed winning 3 out of 4, however there were some 3 setters between Stuart and Niamh and Stewart and Laura. As well as Andrew T and Shona and Alfie a Lindsay. The level doubles finished with 2 games each. Meaning a final score of 8-4 to Caledonia.

Final Standings:
Waverley 7 Bute 3 Caledonia 11 Arran 3

Congratulations to team Caledonia on winning the league. 🏸

Next week will be the final night of the season with the young v old. Team captains will be in touch if you’re to play.

Last night saw the final championships of the season take place. The u21 Mixed Doubles, the Ladies Doubles and the Gents Doubles.

The u21 kicked off the night with a close 3 setter. Eilidh and Sean took the first set, with Abbey and Alfie taking the second. They continued the hard fought battle into the final set, pretty much point for point. Eilidh and Sean came out victorious winning 21/11 19/21 21/19.

In the Ladies Doubles Laura and Lyndsay defended their title against Niamh and Kathryn winning 21/17 21/11.

The Gents Doubles was the final match of the evening and they didn’t disappoint. A very close and nail biting game. Robin and Liam held off Craig and Lester to defend their title winning 21/18 13/21 22/20.

Next week will be the final boat league of the season. Please let your captains know if you’re unable to attend. 🏸
