We are excited to welcome the first Scottish Young Development Programme (YDP) Workshop. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone aged 8โ24 to get involved, meet like-minded young people, and develop valuable cattle handling and showing skills.
Whether a beginner or experienced, attendees can build confidence, make new friends, and enjoy a great day out.

Hosted by club members John, Marion and Wanda Tilson, this flagship event organised by the National Sheep Association Scotland is widely recognised as Scotlandโs premier sheep event and a key date for progressive livestock farmers.
Set at Wedderlie Farm, a highly regarded mixed enterprise in the Scottish Borders, the day will provide a valuable insight into modern, efficient livestock systems, with a strong focus on innovation, sustainability, and profitability.

The Border Aberdeen Angus Club will host a pop-up stand and banner within the Aberdeen Angus area. Held on the last Friday and Saturday of July at Springwood Park, Kelso, the Border Union Show is one of the most important agricultural events in our region and a key fixture in the club calendar. With its strong livestock sections and wide-ranging competitions, the show offers an outstanding platform to showcase Aberdeen Angus cattle and promote the breed to a large audience. We strongly encourage members to support the show, exhibit where possible, and help maintain a strong Border Aberdeen Angus presence at this event.

Held at the scenic Duns Castle Estate, the Duns Show remains a valued and well-supported event within the Borders farming calendar. The club will once again have a presence, and member support is vital to its continued success.

โข Contributions of home baking are always greatly appreciated and remain a highlight for visitors to the stand

The Aberdeen-Angus Cattle Society invites members to attend the 150 & Beyond Finale at Ballindalloch Castle & Gardens
Ballindalloch Distillery Tour | 10:00am โ 12:00 noon
The day will begin with a guided tour of Ballindalloch Distillery, including the opportunity to view, taste, and purchase a specially created single estate malt whisky.
150th & Beyond Finale | 12:00 noon โ 4:00pm
โข Arrival drinks and music from the Strathspey and Reel Fiddlers
โข Viewing of select Ballindalloch Aberdeen-Angus cattle
โข Heritage displays including paintings, prizeware, and original records
โข Official launch of the Helical System

โข Lunch in the gardens and social activities
Tickets: ยฃ50 per person (maximum 5 per member)
All herd numbers linked to ticket purchases will be entered into a draw, with the first 50 drawn receiving a ยฃ20 credit to their Aberdeen-Angus account.

Members are asked to email Sian (Club Secretary) if they plan to attend, and to indicate whether they would be interested in joining a herd visit enroute.
This proposed visit would be located within reach of the Borders, allowing attendance even for those not travelling on to Ballindalloch.
The club has approached a herd based in the Lothians to host this visit, with confirmation to follow.

Join us for what promises to be an insightful and enjoyable visit to Romavale, Denholm, home to Jim and James Logan near Hawick. The visit will begin at Milrighall, Selkirk (TD7 4QJ), where members will commence the tour which will finish at Romavale for the main herd visit and a BBQ. This progressive Borders enterprise offers a strong example of a diversified and forward-thinking farming business, combining:
โข Pedigree Aberdeen Angus and Hereford cattle
โข A commercial and organic sheep enterprise
โข A well-developed, forage-based system built around efficient grassland management
Members will have the opportunity to:
โข View the suckler herd and discuss breeding decisions
โข Explore how forage utilisation and grassland management underpin performance
โข Gain insight into how the business balances pedigree breeding with commercial realities
โข Discuss practical approaches to resilience, efficiency, and continual improvement
The visit will conclude with a BBQ at Romavale, providing an excellent opportunity to catch up with fellow members in a relaxed setting.

The Club Herd Competition will once again take place in September. A judge has been approached, and the club is currently awaiting confirmation of availability before making the final announcement.

We are delighted to welcome Robert Gilchrist for what promises to be a highly informative technical meeting, offering club members a valuable opportunity to hear directly from the Society on key developments shaping the future of the breed. A central focus of the meeting will be the introduction and practical application of the new Helical registry system, alongside updates on performance recording and genetic evaluation tools.
Key areas will include:
โข Improved registration efficiency and reduced turnaround times
โข Enhanced herd data access and DNA tracking
โข Development and application of Terminal, Maternal, and forthcoming Dairy Indexes
There will also be opportunity for discussion and questions, allowing members to better understand how these developments can support breeding decisions and commercial performance. Further details will be circulated in due course.

Hallington will host a joint Club Herd Sale Preview / Open Day, offering members and local farmers the opportunity to view the sale cattle and their progeny ahead of the auction. This will provide valuable insight into the strength, consistency, and breeding behind the herd, and a chance to discuss the cattle in a relaxed and informative environment prior to sale day. Locations will be dependent on entries forward for the February 2027 bull sales at, Galbraith Stirling Bull Sales, Unites Auctions, Stirling
Please note, the direction of travel alternates annually, and in 2027 the route will run North to South.
