🚨Rant incoming🚨
To whoever lit this fire—give your head a wobble.
This was right beside a standing crop in bone-dry conditions. It could so easily have turned into a major fire, destroying crops, wildlife and, with it being right on the edge of Duns, putting people and property at risk.
Crops don’t just appear overnight. Farmers spend months of hard work, long days and late nights growing them, and one daft decision could destroy a year’s work in minutes.
If you’re out enjoying the countryside, that’s brilliant—but have a bit of respect for it. Don’t leave fires burning, and better yet, don’t light them in the first place.
So, to the person who did this, please think before you act. The countryside isn’t there to be treated like your back garden. Show a bit of respect for the folk who work hard to look after it. One careless decision is all it takes.
