We watched THAT episode of Dutton ranch yesterday. The weight of the situation really was captured and portrayed perfectly. It’s been on my mind today how I hope we never ever ever have to see that horrendous disease in our cattle again, it makes me feel sick just thinking about going through what so many did back in the early 00’s. 25 years ago! As farmers we’ve all seen s**t that we will take to our graves. Not because of poor welfare but because of the very best welfare. It’s a true fact we are actually kinder to really sick animals than we are to really sick humans. The greatest thing is that every battle we face is invisible and once the signs are showing it’s generally too late. I’m not going to sugar coat it the weight is hard at the moment, blue tongue, TB, drought, the government, strange worm burdens, haemunchus, it feels like everything is just silently closing in constantly. We’re all putting on the keep calm and bloody carry on face but I see it in all of your eyes as I see it in my own. But this is why we are a rare breed, the resilience kicks in, because if we don’t fight for them and our industry who will. Long may that disease stay on TVs and in the 00’s, it has no place here.
