Wilf's Upcoming Permaculture Courses
For 2026 I have two strands of permaculture courses.
First up there are whole day in person courses held at Abundant Earth. These can be taken individually as one day courses. Joined up together they make up credits towards completion of the Permaculture Design Certificate Course (aka PDC). Details of those one day modules are below. They are all on Saturdays throughout the year.
The second strand are online evening sessions focused on my permaculture book about the principles. These sessions will take us through the book step by step. You don’t need to have purchased the book to attend these sessions but it might help. Details of these sessions, all on Monday evenings, are further below.

Details of upcoming One Day Modules
Feb 21st Observation
The Observational Skills day will focus on reading the landscape, ecological succession, weather patterns, seasons, microclimates, using your body as a tape measure and base maps.
March 21st Analysis
The Analysis Skills day will involve training and practice of at least seven design tools to help us add layers to our observations and consider how we work towards making the best decision.
April 18th Principles
We will explore what a principle is and how they are universal in many disciplines, and how we define what a permaculture principle is. We will see where the principles can be seen in natural systems and the evolution of our understanding of these tools. This isn’t just the twelve principles that Holmgren focuses on but a broader deeper understanding of 23 principles from over forty permaculture teachers globally. We will see how the principles have been applied in our market garden and across our smallholding.
Dates and Details for the Principles Book Courses
All of these sessions are on Monday evenings, starting at 7pm and finishing at 8pm. Each session will focus on a particular chapter from the book. I will invite the chapter collaborators to attend to highlight their involvement and work, although I can’t guarantee their attendance currently. The sessions will involve reading an extract from the relevant chapter, providing a summary of key points from that chapter and looking at a wide range of applications for the principle in question. We may also consider and discuss cautions, relevant design tools, lightbulb moments and becoming unstuck moments depending upon the chapter we focus on. There will be plenty of time for questions and opportunities for you to share your insights and thoughts.
