Congratulations to Izzy and Will, having celebrated their wedding at Thirlestane Castle Exclusive Use on Saturday 5th September, 2026.

Simplicity and elegance and nowhere to hide with this capturing design!

Their cake, a custom design of three staggered tiers and classic flavours, filled with a vanilla bean Swiss meringue buttercream:-

Vanilla & strawberry
Chocolate & chocolate crémeux
Lemon & lemon curd

Finished with a vanilla bean white chocolate ganache, subtle delicate floral stencil work, draped with a posey of Scottish, seasonal, organically grown food safe flowers.

Snapdragon
Dahlia
Lambs ear
Jasmine
Cosmos
Fennel fronds
Nasturtium

A big thank you to Platter & Pop for positioning this bespoke cake in its final showpiece position (photo above). They had created the most stunning venue for an elegant wedding reception.

Thanks to PYRUS and Kev Banks for supplying me with seasonal / homegrown / Scottish / organic / food safe florals and foliage.

A little magic Neidpath Castle

The 2nd September, USA Mac & Karla celebrated their wedding at the magnificent ancient Neidpath Castle, overlooking the beautiful River Tweed, one of my favourite wedding venues with its many historical features.

They asked me to create something mystical, elegant and worthy of the castle, with subtle nods to their love of Harry Potter.

Colours of green, blue, and purple were brought together with gold.

Finishing their design with handmade delicate edible wafer-paper leaves and abstract branches, 24ca edible gold leaf alongside magical 'Harry Potter ' symbols and the word “Always” add a beautiful sentiment for a lifetime together.

As always, every detail was created with organic ingredients, fair trade couverture chocolate, natural colour pigments and no wires or plastics....giving me artistic licence to fulfil.

A little edible enchantment, inspired by the magic of Neidpath Castle and the beauty of their wedding day.✨

Congratulations, Mac & Karla — Always. 🤍

Heather & Ed....Congratulations 🍾🥂

Married on Saturday 29th August at the wonderfully secluded and charming Rosebery House, set within the Rosebery Estates

I was delighted to create this bespoke wedding cake for their day.

An elegant, romantic design of soft, sweeping ‘fabric’ drapery, crafted entirely in chocolate ganache buttercream, and finished with the most delicate scattering of vegan pearls.

A heartfelt thank you to Heather’s parents, Maureen & Charles, for continuing to enjoy my work and asking me to create something so special for such an important occasion. It was a privilege to be part of their celebrations.

The cake was served in place of dessert, accompanied by a wee dram to close the wedding breakfast and raise a toast to the newlyweds ...a beautifully Scottish finishing touch to the evening.

And beneath all that elegance, two very indulgent flavour pairings:

Chocolate Stout
Three layers of chocolate stout sponge, filled w/ vanilla bean Swiss meringue buttercream & a silky chocolate crémeux. (A further six layers in the top tier!)

Bergamot & Citrus explosion
Six layers of Bergamot sponge, filled w/ vanilla bean Swiss meringue buttercream & a zesty refreshing homemade lemon curd.

A cake created to be remembered and shared.

21st 🇺🇸 GOLD. POP ART. AND A LITTLE BIT OF “OH NO…” 😉

When the brief is fun, cheeky, USA… with a few family and friends in-house jokes thrown in, you know this isn't going to be an ordinary birthday cake!

Pop Art wafer paper, hand-finished details, 24ca edible gold leaf and a cast of characters that needed absolutely no introduction to the birthday party… 🗽🕷️🐿️🇺🇸

And yes, the orange one had to make an appearance too…🫣
Oooh no!

Created for a fun and enjoyable 21st birthday party, celebrated on the 22nd August.

A 'tower' of rich chocolate fudge cake, filled w/ chocolate ganache and vanilla bean Swiss meringue buttercream. Decadent, delicious and a favourite!

Thank you Maxine for the fun brief and for trusting me with this one for Fred's 21st!

Happy 21st to Rowan on 22nd August 2026.

I thought I'd share the building process, as it's been a while....

My client brief was - a vanilla / chocolate vegan cake throughout. Keeping nature and flora in the forefront, with a nod to literature and poetry (so an addition of a printed personalised birthday poem onto edible wafer paper).

Vegan marbled cake recipe, thanks to Domestic Gothess filled with vanilla bean 'butter' cream & a dark chocolate ganache.

Decorated with an edible wafer paper personalised poem, natural pigments, home dried edible flowers (pansy, marigold etc) and further dried edible flowers from Wee Flower Eater

Bespoke, delicate and delicious..,feel free to get in touch.

Happy 80th Birthday to Barry!

A very special celebration on 15th August, surrounded by his wife and family, whilst holidaying in style Legerwood Scotland

I was delighted to be hired as their private chef, creating their bespoke menu to suit. Bringing the food and experience together, and working alongside my wonderful team Amaya Broadbent and Lynn Rosie Burt to provide a polished yet relaxed service.

A special occasion calls for good food, and I was pleased to use some excellent local produce / producers.
Kev Banks of The Plot Thickens. (6 miles) salad, vegetables, aromatics, edible flowers.
Beef from Lauder (4 miles)
D R Collin Fish 'hot smoked' salmon from their smokehouse Eyemouth.

Menu
Canapés:- Rye toasts, whipped goats cheese w/ Scottish blossom honey, confit tomatoes, crispy sage. Warm falafel w/ herb aioli, cucumber, viola.
Starter:- Hot smoked salmon salad w/ apple and citrus, sauce Maltaise.
Main:-Beef wellington, braised French beans & radish, just, pommes Anna w/ lemon thyme.
(Vegetarian wellington - beetroot, sweet potato, marrow, mushroom duxele)
Dessert:-
'Middle Eastern' ice-cream sandwich, poached nectarine.
Cheese:-
Blue Murder, Isle of Mull Cheddar, Doddington Berwick Edge & Admiral, Brie de Meaux. Figs, dates, heritage tomatoes, homemade Cucumber pickle, olives, biscuits.

Bespoke and relaxed — but most importantly, a chance for family to get together and enjoy a special celebration around the table.

A great evening and a pleasure to be part of it.

Two weeks at Straloch Estate Pitlochry… and what a couple of weeks they were! 🥂🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

A fabulous group of clients, a beautiful venue, brilliant local produce and a calendar that included pretty much EVERYTHING:- black tie dinners, fancy dress, treasure hunts, Highland Games, ceilidhs, karaoke… and plenty of other antics along the way! 😂

Meanwhile, in the kitchen… 🔥👩‍🍳

It was full-on from start to finish, keeping a large hungry group fed through all the festivities. And, as always, my priority is getting the food out hot and on the table, which means the beautifully plated dishes tend to disappear long before I remember to take a decent photo! 🙈

So here’s a little collage of the two weeks instead, a glimpse of the food, the fun, the madness and the moments in between.

I was spoilt with fantastic fresh produce from wonderful local suppliers — from fish and meat to beautiful fruit and vegetables — all coming together in the kitchen at Straloch House.

It was a tough old couple of weeks, but I genuinely loved cooking for this crowd. Great clients, great produce, great memories… and probably a few extra grey hairs! 😉

Thank you for having me — what a fortnight! ❤️

08/08/2026

I thought I’d say a little “hi” to you all, as I’ve just finished a two-week stint working away from home ....hired as a private chef, with not much time for anything else!

So, before heading home, I took a quick walk up the crags behind the stunning Straloch House, near Pitlochry, to suck in some fresh air and stretch my legs (even though they’ve already walked a fair few miles up and down corridors over the past couple of weeks! 😂).

I’ve been living in and cooking for the White family and their wonderful friends, who were staying at Straloch House (nr Pitlochry) Perthshire.

It’s been a full-on, busy and hugely rewarding experience, and one I’ve thoroughly enjoyed. The food, the setting and, of course, the amusing company of the White family and their lovely friends have made it a very special job indeed.

I’ve taken a few photographs along the way, so there will be lots more to share over the coming days — from the kitchen and the food, to the beautiful house and the experience of cooking for such a wonderful group.

But for now, I’m tootling down the A9 and heading back home to hubby in the Scottish Borders. A few days to breathe and recharge… and then I’m back on it again Wednesday!

More to follow… 👀🍽️

A bespoke 70th birthday cake for an American client wishing to capture the essence of Scotland through his passion of Scottish ancestry and tartan.

My brief was 'a sculptural design with tartan'.

My client was holidaying and celebrating his 70th birthday with family and friends Wedderburn Castle & Barns of which they have the 'Hume' tartan tastefully used as part of the castles bedroom upholstery, so, that is THE tartan of choice for my wafer paper.

The cake itself was a rich chocolate fudge cake, of 5 sponges, layered with chocolate crémeux, vanilla bean Swiss meringue buttercream and fresh black cherries as a compote.

Painted with natural pigment colours of blues and pale green, edible silver and gold leaf, homegrown / dried blue cornflower petals. Finished with a garnish of tartan wafer paper designs.
