Another successful AGM very generously hosted by our president Donald Mactaggart.

The group brew day consisted of a Saison with spruce tips freshly harvested from the surrounding Pentland hills, with honorary brewing assistant Eddie the Jack Russell keeping us right.

Aside from that we got to sample some world class beers including Cantillon and Russian River's Pliny the Younger.

The SCB brewer of the year award went to Richard Brown.

But most importantly we redoubled efforts to drive the club forward. With highlighted plans including

- Continuing our very successful BJCP judge training programme.

- Oganising our popular domestic and international trips to beer festivals and beer destinations

- Diversifying our midweek meeting to include educational talks and guest speakers.

- And finally with the club entering our 30th year, we will be looking to do some collaboration brews with some fantastic local breweries to mark the occasion, along with other events to mark this amazing milestone

International Women's Day 2026!

As part of the festival, Bella at 71 Brewing in Dundee is organizing a homebrew competition and opening a call for homebrew recipes from female homebrewers across Scotland to be judged by the production brewers of the various breweries in attendance, including Campervan, Cold Town, Closet, Jumpship, Innis and Gunn, and more. Are there are any female members who would be interested in participating? She is hoping to also get some of the students at HWU to participate as well and use it as an opportunity for mentorship and networking for women looking to get into the production side of the industry.

Another great afternoon at Campervan Brewery celebrating Oktoberfest with lots of lovely Märzen!

Our 2025 competition winner Darren Sloan travelled up from London with friends in tow, to sample his own brew that he brewed in collaboration with Campervan (his prize for brewing the champion beer).

A great chance to meet up with some fellow homebrewers from the Beer Boars!

As a reminder, registration for this year's Scottish National Homebrew Competition is open with over 50% of the 300 entry places already snapped up.

You too could live the dream of having your own beer creation brewed commercially!

PS. Cans of Darren's winning brew are still available at select bottle shops around Edinburgh. If you see them be sure to grab one or two...

A great afternoon was had at the Scottish Craft Brewers Czech Lager Challenge.

Members were encouraged to brew in pairs (allowing the sharing of brewing hints and tips) to produce anything from the Czech categories of the BJCP guidelines.

Brewers got to try out traditional decoction techniques bringing that unique flavour that is so indicative of Czech beers.

Beers were sampled and scored with Andrew Aitchison and Richard Brown producing the highest scoring beer on the day.

We were even treated to some delicious homemade sourdough bread and goulash produced by our very own Czech mate ;-) Václav Papež

SCB DAY OUT / Winner of Scottish National Homebrew competition 2025 beer on draft.

Campervan Oktoberfest(ish) day on Sat 20th Sept 2pm.

The winning beer from 2025 competition will be on draft and 3 of our friends from Beer Boars (East London branch) are travelling up (Including the winner himself Darren Sloan)

The club has been invited to the launch and for a pub crawl afterwards. You can reserve a place free of charge by filling the link to preorder a Steiner.
