Cooking for a crowd doesn't have to be complicated – it just needs a bit of planning. πŸ™Œ

As a rough guide, allow around 200g of meat per person for burgers or sausages, and closer to 300g for larger cuts like shoulder or ribs. It's always better to have a little too much than not enough – and good quality meat from a proper butcher goes further than you'd think.

Our tip? Mix it up. A combination of cuts and flavours keeps everyone happy and means you're not standing over the grill cooking the same thing all afternoon.

Did you know? Our high-quality Scotch Beef is from young heifers that are born, reared & processed on selected farms in the Scottish Borders. These farms all adopt best practices regarding animal welfare and production methods.

The meat is then specially selected for us at Harrison & Hetherington Auction Mart in Newton St Boswells, Melrose.

All our beef is hung for a minimum of 21 days and is fully traceable. Check with our staff in the shop to find out where our current batch has come from!

A good marinade can take a great piece of meat and make it even better. πŸ₯©

The key is time. Even a simple mix of olive oil, garlic, lemon and fresh herbs will transform a lamb chop or pork steak if you give it a few hours in the fridge – overnight is even better.

For beef, keep it simple: good meat doesn't need much, just something to complement the flavour rather than mask it.

One golden rule: always bring your meat to room temperature before it goes on the grill. Straight from the fridge onto the heat is one of the most common barbecue mistakes – and one of the easiest to avoid. πŸ‘Œ
