🏀 From Freshers' Rep to President. Safe to say... he's got game.

Meet Mo, your Student Union President 👋

Born in the US, originally from Iran, Mo brings a global perspective and a passion for making sure every student feels represented and heard. 🌍💛

His Union journey started with a last-minute email asking if it was too late to become a Freshers' Rep. Thankfully, it wasn't.

A few years later, he's stepping onto centre court as your Student Union President. And he's not here to sit on the side lines.

This year, Mo is focused on fair treatment for international students, better access to mental health support, and stronger financial support for students.

His favourite Union value? Brave. Because sometimes the best things happen when you take the shot. ⛹️‍♂️✨

When he's not representing students, you'll find him talking basketball, making music, or waiting for Frank Ocean to finally release something.

With his season officially starting, let's give Mo a warm welcome🏀

Say hello to Mo, Kirsty, and Joey 👋💛

After one week of inductions, workshops, and sprinting between meetings, here are some of their biggest achievements so far:

🚽 Reviewed our brand-new toilets and agreed they're a solid upgrade.

🚪 Spent a concerning amount of time pondering how our automatic doors could actually open better.

🧱 Had their hearts broken by a game of Jenga.

But jokes aside...

It's been a packed week of learning, planning, and getting to grips with how they can make a difference for students over the next year.

Next up? Global induction, meeting officers from Dubai and Malaysia, and agreeing on the priorities that will shape student life across all campuses 🌍

Before they officially clock out of their FTO era… 💛

We need to give a HUGE shoutout to Holly & Cameron for the last two years ✨

From pushing for fairer housing rights and consent training, to improving lecture recordings, coursework deadlines, and making student voice impossible to ignore, they’ve spent two years making real change happen for students 📣🎓

Behind every campaign win, committee meeting, policy change, and “we’ve raised this with the University” email… there was a lot of passion and perseverance 💪🏻

Thank you both for everything you’ve done for this community. Your impact on student life at HWU will shape what comes next 💫

The University & Colleges Union (UCU) has notified the University of the upcoming strike action planned for graduation week starting June 15th and finishing June 19th.

Graduation should be a moment of celebration.

We believe the best way to protect that is for the University to urgently work towards a fair resolution.
