We have been doing a lot of whisky chatting & sampling this month so it is great timing to have five new arrivals in from Leith indie bottler Fragrant Drops™️
We have three Scotch & two US bottles which is very exciting!
One of these US Whiskeys, the Indiana Rye, was just voted in the top 10 at Whisky Fringe which is a huge achievement! Congratulations!
Indiana Rye 8 year old, matured for three & a half of those years in second fill Tokaji barrel. This unusual combination gives flavours of rose water, honey, ginger, plum, apricot, marmalade & peach. Yum!
Kentucky Bourbon 7 year old, finished for 2 years in PX. The sherry influence really shows up here with Victoria sponge, strawberry jam, treacle, cherry cola on the nose followed by cloves, molasses, raisin & apple crumble on the palate.
Staoisha 6 year old, distilled at Bunnahabhain, is a peated Islay malt with a full red wine barrique maturation. What a delicious combination of bacon fries, cantaloupe melon, summer fruits, red apple & bbq meat smoke. This is their first release of a peated whisky distilled at Bunnahabhain & it sounds like an absolute treat!
Glentauchers 11 year old is a Speyside single malt with full St Emilion maturation. Big & bold on the nose with liquorice, strawberry laces, jam roly poly & cocoa , followed by malt, cherry & orange bitters on the palate.
Dalmunach 10 year old is a Speyside single malt fully matured in first fill bourbon barrels. Waxy & malt-driven on the nose, with white chocolate, icing sugar, apple pie & caramel. The palate brings liquorice, lemon sherbet & roasted pineapple. The finish is complex and herbaceous, with walnut, peppermint, orange zest, black tea & a long amaro-like bitterness that lingers beautifully.
Slainte!
