💙 Why I decided to start Anu Pitman Accountancy
Starting a new business can be a bit daunting — and I wanted to make sure I was building something based on real experience, not just qualifications on a piece of paper.
So, a little bit about me…
🎓 In 2020, I graduated from the Open University with First Class Honours in Business Management and Accountancy.
📚 Last year, I completed my ACCA studies, building on my existing FMAAT qualification.
💻 I’ve also run my own bookkeeping business before. Life circumstances meant I eventually returned to employment — but looking back, that gave me something incredibly valuable: experience I wouldn’t have gained from running my own business alone.
I worked in accountancy practice, gaining experience supporting a range of businesses and understanding the challenges accountants deal with behind the scenes.
Then I moved into industry, working as a Finance Manager within businesses with turnover of £10m+.
So I’ve seen finance from several different perspectives:
➡️ As a business owner
➡️ From accountancy practice
➡️ From inside larger businesses
➡️ From the finance team’s perspective
And now I’m bringing all of that experience back to small businesses here in the Scottish Borders.
My aim with Anu Pitman Accountancy isn’t to overwhelm you with accounting jargon or simply send you your accounts once a year.
I want to help you understand your numbers, plan for tax, keep on top of your finances and make informed decisions throughout the year.
Because you shouldn’t need to be an accountant to understand your accounts. 😊
That’s the kind of accountant I wanted when I was running my own business — and that’s the kind of accountant I want to be for my clients.
