When you’re designing an open-plan kitchen, the right appliances need to work hard without dominating the space.

Kitchen Designer Emma recently highlighted the Miro Spectre venting induction hob as one of her go-to options, combining induction cooking and extraction within one streamlined appliance.

One of the things Emma particularly likes is how discreet it feels in the finished kitchen. The central glass extraction can close when it’s not in use, leaving a much cleaner surface, while the Spectre is also available in a matt black finish for an even softer, understated look.

It’s practical too. Miro Cooker Hoods - The Art of Extraction describes the Spectre as having a powerful motor with minimal noise, making it particularly suited to open-plan living, along with automatic extraction that adjusts depending on the cooking zones being used.

Will someone get a hole-in-one on September 11th? Another year, another Pro-Am at McDonald Golf Club, Ellon, with a £15,000 John Willox Kitchen Design kitchen up for grabs if they do. There’ll also be additional prizes across the remaining Par 3s.

🏆 With less than two weeks to go until our eagerly anticipated Pro-Am at McDonald Golf Club, Ellon, in partnership with PGA in Scotland, we are delighted to announce the confirmation list of professionals for our annual flagship event.

👍 These include Gavin Hay Golf, of East Renfrewshire, who currently leads the PGA in Scotland Order of Merit by 100 points.

🏌️ Chris Currie and John Henry, who are also both ranked in the top 10 of the Order of Merit, will also be playing on the day.

⛳ The day will include a hole-in-one competition, with the prize of a £15,000 kitchen from John Willox Kitchen Design up for grabs on our 11th hole. Other prizes from John Willox are also available on the remaining Par 3s.

✅ Our popular putting competition will return again on our practice green, with our clubhouse sponsored by J M Taylor Accountants Limited.

🙌 A nearest the pin competition on our 15th hole and a straightest drive competition on our 9th hole will also be held on the day.

💯 A raffle and auction with a variety of exclusive prizes will take place in our clubhouse after the round.

👨‍🍳 As always, delicious food will be served to all our teams by our chef Gordon Cuthbert, including his renowned carvery.

It was great to see the new away kit officially unveiled, with John joining Club Captain Andreas Misacas ahead of the Longside fixture. This kitchen started with a painting.

A favourite piece of artwork gave Joanna inspiration for the colour palette, but once the design process began, there were a few challenges to solve too.

A doorway needed to be moved.
The staircase affected the cabinetry.
The layout needed to be completely reconsidered.
And the new kitchen still had to feel open, practical and beautifully uncluttered to reflect our client’s style.

The finished result tells only part of the story.

The colourful parrot motif was originally found in an early 18th-century terrace house opposite Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital in London.
