9. My new favourite iced drink .. an Iced Chai Latte from .. any indie that can replicate or better this, you get my money ☕️

Highfield Friends and Parents Association Ely - HFPA

I am SUPER excited to be supporting the 1st Highfield Parents Association Summer Fundraising Event on Sunday 14th June this year. From 11-2, come down and enjoy yourselves with the family by indulging in a classic Fete day with a variety of stalls, good food, good drink, and an even better cause.

Raising money to allow the SEN children of Highfield Academy to have access whatever they need to be inclusive, grow and develop and progress as they navigate the path to growing up.

Special guests on the day include our very own MP Charlotte Cane and Ely Mayor Rebecca Denness. and myself will also be in attendance to document the day, and do our bit to help such a worthy cause grow!

We popped by once we eventually found out had taken over the to see if can save the day and make the cafe great again!

Offering the luxurious loaded croissants, mixed with sitting under the pergola on a scorcher of a bank holiday weekend, I enjoyed every mouthful of my Banana Split Croissant, every sip of my borderline ‘too-bitter-but-still-okay’ coffee (never did check the roaster!) until I realised the absolute mess I’d gotten myself into. Calvin and myself joked afterwards about having those small packet wet wipes available, but actually, I think it’s a great idea! You’ve really got to commit to enjoying one of these croissants, and that includes getting messy and sticky. Reminds me of misspent youth.

is renovating the restaurant area into something that hopefully a lot more people use. Was was once a restaurant that didn’t operate past 5pm, Calvin’s plans or creating a ‘for all cafe space’ offering brunches, sweet treats and great drinks is definitely something that will draw people back to Bens Yard and make it the busy and thriving location it should have always been.

I literally cannot wait to see where this goes. I’m back invested and excited about what Bens Yard can be. Calvin, you’re the man 🤟🏼

This weeks round-up is non-existent, in a week that’s been a real mindf**k mentally, I haven’t eaten either well or at all, so please enjoy some beautiful tortelloni and pizzas from work, a bubbling mac and cheese which comforted us one night, and the silver lining in the cloud of grey which is the best breakfast I’ve had in Ely and the surrounding areas to date .. more on that soon 🐮
