Remembering back to the fire at Corkers factory.

Dear friends of Corkers Crisps,
the business suffered extensive fire and smoke damage at its Willow Farm site in Ely, Cambs at 3pm on Saturday 30th May. Once the alarm was raised all colleagues were promptly evacuated and we are pleased to confirm that no one was hurt. We would like to thank the emergency services for their skill and their speed in getting to the site.

We thank all customers, suppliers and friends of Corkers Crisps who have sent kind messages of support.

We are working towards having a limited range of Corkers back on the shelves as soon as we can.

UK ENTREPRENEUR BLOCKED FROM REBUILDING CRISP FACTORY AS COUNCIL BANS USE OF LOCAL FARM PRODUCE
Cambridgeshire entrepreneur Ross Taylor may be forced to move his operation to Europe after East Cambs Council imposed a last-minute planning restriction - known as ‘Condition 30’ - just three hours before the planning meeting.

This hidden clause bans the production, distribution, and even the use of any crops not grown on-site. The devastating move halts the rebuild of the Corkers crisp factory, which was destroyed by fire, and threatens a major blow to British food production, farming, and rural jobs.

“We’ve gone from feeding families to feeding generators. That’s the state of British planning right now.”

Under the new condition, even locally grown potatoes can’t be used unless they’re from a single, specific field. Instead, tonnes of perfectly good produce are now being diverted to anaerobic digestion plants - food turned into fuel, not by choice, but by force.
