Once you have passed the pub heading towards Dunsford and away from Exeter you will find us on the left hand side of the main road before the road heads down the hill. As of 18th July 2022, we now have a second milk vending machine situated at Ullacombe Farm Shop and Cafe near Bovey Tracey. Here we have 12 milkshake flavours alongside our delicious free range whole milk. Glass bottles available. Opening hours here are the same as Ullacombe...normally 9-5 7 days a week. Mount Boon Milk Co is a small family farm with a herd of free range holstein fresian cows grazing the lush pastures around Longdown on the edge of Dartmoor but only 5 miles from Exeter. We are a husband and wife team who have been farming for over 10 years after following our dream to start our own farm and growing our herd to nearly 100 cows. Our girls are part of the family, cow welfare if paramount as we believe happy cows are healthy productive cows. During the summer months they graze the pastures around the farm and when the weather turns colder they come into our purpose built shed and are fed grass and maize silage grown on the farm. Medicine and antibiotic use use is kept to a minimum and only used where absolutely necessary to maintain high standards of animal welfare.

Calving has begun at Mount Boon with a lovely little set of twins. Doris is a 12 year old friesian cross holstein cow who joined us here at Mount Boon back in 2016 as a heifer with a group that we bought from another farm in the South West.

This week's milkshake flavours at Longdown are Banoffee and Blueberry Muffin.

Cakes include:

Toffee Crisp Brownie
Sea Shell Brownie
Jaffa Cake Brownie

Plenty of cheese and local butter available too. Do pop by this weekend and fill up with the best milk around.

Well that was a bit of change this weekend for us Mount Boon Milk folk! We managed to escape the farm for at least 36 hours to experience our first fanily festival. Wonderful friends, lots of laughs and great music....a real tonic after the summer of trials on the farm.

Don't worry though we were back by mid morning Sunday to pasteurise milk and refill the vending machines 😍😅

So plenty of milk to keep you topped up and the following flavours at Longdown as well:

It's rained at last! 🙏💦

We have been desperate for rain on the farm for weeks...how long will it take the fields to recover I wonder? Ross thinks at least a month. What do you think?

Happy bank holiday weekend! It's the same as any other for us here on the farm...the cows still need milking, feeding and caring for but we might squeeze in a quieter hour or two as well if we're lucky!

There's plenty of delcious treats available at Longdown alongside our Mount Boon Milk and Milkshake to see you through the weekend...which will you choose?!

We'll change flavours tomorrow morning (Saturday) so if you have any requests do let us know.

Maize harvest has begun for us several weeks earlier than normal. You may have spotted the tractors heading to and from the farm over the past couple of days.

We've had to harvest early due to the weather ripening the plants well ahead of schedule and as crops are much lighter than usual we've also had to buy some extra to see us through the winter. This has come at significant extra cost so fingers crossed for good sales over the next few weeks and months in the milkshed to help cover it 🤞🙏🐄

As mentioned previously, we are taking a very rare day off today to spend some time as a family. Milk has now sold out at Longdown. As it's a bigger machine there is still plenty at Ullacombe Farm Shop. We will be refilling in the morning.
