Under DEFRA rules, beef only needs 51% of its diet to be grass-based to carry a “grass fed” label. The other 49%? Grain, manufactured feeds, even bread and biscuit waste. And nobody checks.

Pasture-fed and finished means 100% grass, for the animal’s entire life. That’s the only standard we use at Inyama Biltong. 🐄🌿

‘18 months ago I learnt front crawl.
13 months ago I decided to swim the Channel.
12 months ago I met my relay team.

Last week, we made it — 15 hours and 23 minutes across the Channel! 🌊💪

For the first 12 hours, I survived on Inyama Biltong and water — it was tasty, and sea sickness wouldn’t let me eat anything else. Two packs of Inyama Biltong equated to 6km of swimming! 🥩💥

So grateful for my team, this experience, and the snacks that kept me going. ❤️’

We’re a small-batch producer — it’s just Don and I, handcrafting every bit of biltong. No massive factory.

Each batch takes 7 days to make, and there’s only so much we can produce at once.
