Exe Valley Brewery

Exe Valley Brewery Exe Valley Brewery, Silverton, Devonshire - Prize winning brewers of fine traditional beers, located in the heart of the Devon countryside. Founded 1984

Exe Valley Brewery was first established in 1984 by Richard Barron, the former landlord of the Three Tuns pub in Silverton, as Barron Brewery. Richard single-handedly converted an old cow shed into a successful brewery, and by 1991 had expanded the business to the point where an extra pair of hands was needed. Those hands belonged to current owner Guy Sheppard, who joined Richard as an equal partn

er, making the name 'Barron Brewery' somewhat redundant. A new name was therefore necessary, and so Barron Brewery became Exe Valley Brewery. Richard & Guy continued to brew together until 2003, when Richard decided it was time to retire. Guy took over full ownership of the brewery, and ran it until 2020 when the brewery was purchased by Libby & Kevin Stroud-Kroon. They now run the brewery with Head Brewer James Fryer. Exe Valley Brewery continues to produce top quality, prize-winning real ale, and bottled beers made with our own natural spring water, Westcountry malt and English-sourced hops. All the ingredients in Exe Valley beers are 100% natural - no additives of any kind are used. The brewery is fully licenced and we are hoping to soon be able to create a beer garden space to host tours, tastings, and events, as well as oeprate as a local meetings pace for the community. We'll be sharing updates as they happen, so do like our page and follow us for all the latest news and events!
