**HONEST POST ALERT 🚨

30% OFF EVERYTHING ONLINE because my divorce has apparently decided it deserves a sequel - the never ending joy of my teenage stupidity lol.

So this isn’t a sad post. It’s a be proud post, remove stigma post, happily divorce post, it gets better post and probably a £21k marketing post bahahaha

Just been handed a **£21,700 solicitor’s bill for solicitors I wouldn’t trust to boil rice who I barely used, shocking & concerning And I need to pay it off …. I even represented myself 89% of the time with my Scouse dad alone who’s an electrician and he did a far better job .. Family court was the most dehumanising, frightening and traumatising experience of my life - so love to anyone surviving that.

But Life does get easier, the last four years have been an absolute beautiful odd circus: nearly bankrupted from do**he (miracle I avoided that but I rebuilt👌), huge amount of money stolen from Zero( I turned it around) , pregnancies, closing a shop ,renovating a shop, breaking my spine on a ski trip with friends lol, all my friends divorcing, growing, beautiful family, water sports falls, celebrating, festivals, lots of love, renovating, parenting love, buying my house, Netflix couldn’t write it and still I’m so so happy.

Money can never ever replace joy and opportunity and with hard work and ethics ? You rebuild stronger . A sustainable life is a successful one.

Still surprised somehow I’ve laughed my way through most of it (worrisome) a sight breakdown in Feb lol (I’m grand now) I’d do Comedy but I’d be sued 🤣.

Basically, life kept throwing bricks & I kept building with them ☀️

But seriously Girls: learn from my lack of boundaries, grow . Speak strongly . Take up space. Follow your career, Know your money. Know your worth . Walk away . Take it back if it’s not respected ( I did lol) . Be kind, but remember **nice is not a pension plan and it’s dangerous to be so vulnerable …. this is not the handmaids tale ….

People always ask me, “Was opening Zero a long process?”
Not even slightly, as I’m impulsive and already a mum ? And every job is easy compared to motherhood .

I saw the shop, viewed it, signed the lease that very same day. Once I had the keys within three weeks this empty shell had become a fully functioning organic zero-waste store taking its first sales, designed by me, created by a quirky welder Rich with me and all from recycled materials and a £6k investment from my house as all the banks said no (I was more scared as I heard the average shop fit and start cost £30k) 😳 .

I’d travelled the world alone though for years and recklessly, thrown myself into every job and situation imaginable, and learned that hard work and a sense of humour is a skill you carry with you wherever you go. Experience is valuable, but courage and determination count for a lot too.

One of the biggest hurdles wasn’t opening a business, it was believing I could do it while raising my children. I had to take my babies to work if I wanted my career back, breastfed between customers, survived on very little sleep, and ignored every voice that suggested motherhood should limit my ambition instead of fuel it. This was actually my escape.

Turns out, becoming a mum didn’t end my career. It inspired a new one.

Somewhere between the chaos, the courage, and yes... a very happy divorce... the business grew as did I ...

You don’t have to wait until you feel ready with a great business . Sometimes you just have to back yourself, work harder than you thought possible, and trust that you’ll figure it out along the way, and not be afraid to walk away.

Today’s episode of The Audacity of Some Men and being a female owner …. 🙄

A man wandered into Zero, offered me some completely unsolicited business advice, commented on my appearance (he liked) and informed me he was very rich and successful business man (because apparently genuinely wealthy people always announce it to strangers 🙃), and then proudly declared he wouldn’t shop with me because I post “political s**te about Palestine.” Ranty ranty and I feel hoping I would apologize bahahaha silly billy ….

Sir... this isn’t the devastating mic drop you think it is.
Sometimes (always) my inner monologue escapes …. And I’m so sarcastic, So I did inform him of my political stances, assumed he’s on lists, assumed he probably voted Brexit so would have hated those painstakingly “lefty posts” absolute feminist and informed him that customers and public who give a s**t about the environment and every single decent human also ALWAYS care about the dis justice of genocide as a bare bloody minimum …. It’s not fu***ng ok.

Thankfully, the brilliant women in the shop stepped in before I had the chance to collect any more complaints. They told him exactly where the door was and marched him out . Queens. 👑
For the record:
No, I don’t need unsolicited business advice ( well sometimes it helps as I’m a learning girl haha) .
Being pro genocide makes you a prick no exceptions 👌
No, telling everyone you’re rich doesn’t make it true.
And no, I genuinely don’t lose sleep because someone who thinks speaking out against mass civilian suffering is bad for business has decided not to spend £3.50 on oats 🤣.
If he’d spent longer than thirty seconds on my social media, he’d know I’m spectacularly unimpressed by walking red flag misogynistic men (just) .
The only silver lining?
I probably would’ve dated him in the past and convinced myself I could change him 🤣🤣

Take Me Back: Alanis Morissette at Powderham Castle

What a gig ❤️

Seeing Alanis Morissette live has been a dream since my younger years, and she did not disappoint. The whole of Jagged Little Pill spliced with more recent tracks, a crowd of (mostly) women singing every word back at her, reliving their younger selves while living entirely different lives. Songs like You Oughta Know carrying a whole new weight and relevance in midlife, standing there with friends who’ve come through divorces, heartbreak, reinvention.

But first, Skunk Anansie. Skin walked through the crowd while performing, filming the audience as she went, the footage playing simultaneously on screen from multiple angles. It was great use of multimedia and a brilliant show. Sometimes artists who were big a few decades ago they don’t live up to expectations (Axel Rose springs to mind), But skin totally blew me away she sounded amazing. She still looks amazing, and the energy was just brilliant. She is sixty years old and was rocking harder than artists half her age.

Powderham Castle was full of women last night. Wonderful, loud, joyful women. We were in the VIP garden area, right down near the front, and I’d recommend paying the extra for the space, the toilets alone are worth it. But mostly it’s the room to breathe, to dance, to just be fully present in my favourite magical place near Exeter.

I didn’t want it to end.

Power cut in a heat wave! We’ve had to close (I think it’s a sign and I am really slightly happy as I don’t think we’d be seeing many people anyway ).

Low self-worth is capitalist propaganda.
You have been conditioned to believe you’re not enough, so we buy more, panic more, spend more, and try to fix more. It’s so hard to break this toxic cycle; a cycle that thrives on overconsumption and waste.
Ignore the lies, my wonders. You are wonderful.

Sometimes it takes a little longer to acknowledge that. It took one of my best friends standing me in front of a mirror, at my most vulnerable, and telling me everything they loved about my body, my mind, and my heart. They made me repeat those words back through tears. It was powerful, uncomfortable, vulnerable, and something I’d highly recommend, and we have to do this a lot as I’m on a journey, we all have to remind each other .

We need more support and better boundaries as I want my daughter to be far stronger than I am and remember, ladies: it’s okay to change your mind. It’s okay to create something and feel proud of it. And if your presence or contribution isn’t respected? Bloody take it back. ☀️

Why do we need to own our power?

Yet women-led businesses continue to outperform expectations and contribute billions to the economy, often while carrying a disproportionate share of unpaid family and caring responsibilities.
Imagine what could happen if the playing field were actually level.

I am closed tomorrow (Wednesday 27th May) as it’s hot and well I want to take my kids to the beach to learn to windsurf, do water sports and build sandcastles and play pickle ball and chase them for endless hours falling into the sand laughing, picnics and ice creams and melting chocolate in our stainless steel on lunchboxes from zero with friends .
Top entrepreneur closing because it’s hot lol, I know, but I love a memory, it’s my greatest privilege and my biggest motivation .

I love being a mum so much, it’s the most spectacular feeling for me and I traveled the world pre kids and had a very eventful life and honestly I’d swap every memory for those tiny little natural hugs.
It’s why I love being an entrepreneur, I don’t have to miss first guitar concerts, or Christmas shows or the opportunity to build a sandcastle , life doesn’t stop being a mum always remember to ignore the negativity ❤️

I always share about time and adventure being our greatest gift, and love, so if you love something help it grow with commitment of time and presence and the love back will always feel pretty spectacular and your biggest motivation .
See you all on Thursday (hopefully I’ll have three little Welsh Latino pro windsurfers by then lol)
