VINEYARD & WINE MAKER’S ASSISTANT
Calancombe Estate is seeking a hard-working and energetic Vineyard/ Wine Maker’s Assistant. The award winning Calancombe Estate near Modbury, South Devon is family owned and extends to approximately 23 hectares and comprises almost 8 hectares of vines including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Noir Precoce, Bacchus, Ortega, Pinot Gris and Madeleine Angevine. In addition to vines, we grow apples, blackcurrants and rhubarb from which we make delicious still and sparkling cyder, apple brandy, cassis and rhubarb gin. The Calancombe Estate is also home to Dartmouth English Gin and Dartmouth Navy Strength Gin.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
VINEYARD:
Assist in all vineyard tasks, winter pruning, summer canopy management, mowing, spraying, soil cultivation, w**d control, crop monitoring and harvesting.
WINERY:
The maintenance and cleaning of the winery is a team task and includes the following, presses, pumps, bottling line, disgorging machinery and labelling line.
Assist the Head Winemaker with bottling, riddling and disgorgement of wine.
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
• Have previous experience in agriculture or vineyard work
• Organised, efficient with an attention to detail.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety in the Work Place
• Full, clean UK Driving Licence (own transport)
• Strong team player
• Diligent record keeping skills
• Good customer service skills and willingness to lead vineyard tours & tasting.
• Working hours 8am-4pm Monday to Friday (with some Saturdays mornings) with longer hours at certain busy times of the year e.g. harvest.
• Right to work in the UK essential
• Salary will be commensurate with previous experience.
