Always an exciting day…barn owl nest check and ringing of the owlets. We out this nest box up in 2002 and it’s been used constantly since. 4 healthy well grown chicks this year. 2 males 2 females. My farm is perfect for lots of wildlife with it mixed tapestry new and old grass, crops, woodland and loads of hedges. Mixed farming is also perfect for a rich mix of fauna and flora.

Surprise surprise….ewes lambs were off farm most of the winter grazing on another farm…where they must have been visited...

Surprise surprise….ewes lambs were off farm most of the winter grazing on another farm…where they must have been visited by someone else’s ram and just found this little outfit lambed last night. Note the front feet of the lamb…her tendons are a little tight so she’s walking on her knuckles a bit. That will sort itself in a few days but a close eye will be kept and I’ll do a little physio therapy on her each day.
