A LITTLE UPDATE FROM THE RED LION 🦁❤️
Firstly, from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU.
The last few weeks at The Red Lion have been absolutely fantastic. Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights in particular have had the atmosphere we dreamed of when we took the pub on - busy, lively, full of familiar faces, laughter and people simply enjoying their village pub.
And that is exactly what we want The Red Lion to become.
A proper village pub. Your village pub.
We do, however, have one disappointing announcement to make.
🍺 THE HAWKSTONE B**R FESTIVAL
Sadly, we have decided not to go ahead with our planned Hawkstone B**r Festival.
We genuinely love putting these bigger events on. We put a huge amount of time, effort and money into them because we want to bring something special to Tedburn and give everyone a reason to get together.
But events of this size need the support of the village to make them work.
When another very similar event is subsequently arranged locally around the same period, the reality is that a village of our size simply doesn’t have enough people to support both without splitting the attendance.
Rather than compete for the same people and risk two diluted events, we’ve decided to step aside on this occasion.
We’re genuinely sorry to everyone who was looking forward to it.
But we’re certainly not stepping back. Quite the opposite…
❤️ THE NEXT CHAPTER AT THE RED LION ❤️
We’re delighted to announce that Diane Howard & Andy Jordan are joining us in the kitchen!
Many of you will already know them. They’ve been around this area forever, they know the village, they have a fantastic following and, most importantly, they know how to produce proper pub food.
And yes… we’ve finally surrendered to something we said we wouldn’t do. 😂
🍖 THE RED LION SUNDAY CARVERY IS COMING!
If we’re going to do one, we’re going to make sure it’s a proper one.
But Sunday is only the beginning.
Our plan now is to put even more of our energy into making EVERY WEEK at The Red Lion something to look forward to.
Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights are becoming our big village pub nights - great atmosphere, great b**r, great food and a pub full of people.
And we’re going to start bringing more food nights and special evenings into Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday too.
Steak nights.
Pie nights.
Curry nights.
Special menus.
Guest food nights.
And plenty more we’re working on.
Perhaps the biggest lesson we’ve learnt since taking on The Red Lion is this:
We don’t need to wait for a festival to create a great atmosphere.
We’ve seen that over the last few weeks.
Give us a full pub, good food, cold b**r, some music and a room full of people enjoying themselves and we’ll happily make every Thursday, Friday and Saturday feel like a little village party. 🍻🎶
So although we’re genuinely disappointed to cancel the Hawkstone B**r Festival, we’re incredibly excited about what comes next.
Thank you for supporting us, thank you for filling the pub and thank you for making The Red Lion feel more and more like the village pub we hoped it could become.
