📢 Public Consultation: Proposed Harbour Revision Order for the River Exe

Exeter City Council is proposing a Harbour Revision Order (HRO) and is currently in the public consultation period.

The proposed HRO covers a wide area — including parts of the Exe Estuary (extending to the fairway buoy), Exeter Ship Canal and some of the surrounding flood marshes. It could affect a wide range of river users such as boaters, paddle boarders, swimmers, and nature enthusiasts.

According to the published draft, the HRO would:
âš“ Establish Exeter City Council as the statutory harbour authority for the defined area
âš“ Give the Council powers to regulate navigation and moorings
âš“ Allow for the collection of harbour dues and charges
âš“ Formalise management responsibilities across the River Exe and Exeter Canal

Anyone wishing to make an objection or representation about the application can contact the Harbour Orders Team at the Marine Management Organisation:

- Be received within 42 days of the date of the notice
- Be made in writing, quoting HRO/2023/00006
- State the grounds of the objection or representation
