Saturday’s weather certainly gave us a difficult start to the weekend, but Sunday more than made up for it — you really did turn Sunday into the new Saturday!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us over both days, supported our traders, enjoyed the entertainment and cheered on our very brave chilli-eating competitors. 🌶️🔥

Congratulations to the winners of both competitions — and enormous respect to everyone who took part!

There’s no point pretending otherwise—the weather deteriorated far more than forecast today and unfortunately spoiled what should have been a brilliant festival day.

Following the cancellation of the Smoke & Fire Festival at Promenade Park this weekend, a number of people have understandably asked whether our own event will be affected.

We have now received reassurance from Maldon District Council that they will not be cancelling our event as a result of the current warning.

So it is very much 𝗕𝗨𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗦 𝗔𝗦 𝗨𝗦𝗨𝗔𝗟, and we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back to Maldon Promenade Park for our fourth year on:

I announced to the entire book club last month that I'd finally mastered moderation, one glass, home by nine, a whole new era apparently. Someone asked which restaurant. I said the one with the extensive wine list downtown. There was a long pause before my friend gently informed me that particular restaurant doesn't serve alcohol at all, hasn't for years, and what I'd actually mastered was drinking exactly one very large iced tea. I've decided the achievement still counts. I'm just recalibrating what exactly I'm proud of these days.
