📢 The Security Industry Authority (SIA) has launched a public consultation on proposed changes to licence linked qualifications and the prerequisites required to obtain a licence.

📝 The proposals include updated training content, changes to how English language skills are assessed and how learners demonstrate first aid competency. The SIA is also seeking views on changes including conflict management training, incident recording, spiking awareness, Martyn’s Law awareness and refreshed counter terrorism content.

‼️The consultation also considers whether holding an in date first aid qualification should become a licence condition for close protection operatives, door supervisors and security guards.

💚 With licensed security operatives playing an important role in keeping the public safe and premises secure, we encourage those working across the licensed sector to read the proposals and share their views.

📅 The consultation closes on Friday 23rd October 2026.

⚽🏆 Government extends hours for the Mexico v England game at 01:00 on Monday 6th July.

The Government has responded positively to concerns from the trade and the general enthusiasm for the World Cup by confirming that a further Order laid today will extend the hours starting on Sunday 5th July until 05:00 on Monday 6th July.
